Comment:

Passionate about teaching and course material, however extremely bias in his left-liberal views around politics. He dismisses anything else at "stupidity" or bigotry. Be prepared to have any point shut down if you challenge his liberal views. Not very professional. If you show up, write what he wants to hear, you'll pass no problem.

Solid dude! Loves talking with his hands. Passionate about terrorism. Periodically will walk through isles with microphone discussing lecture than will put the microphone for you to speak. Still a good guy

From the two classes I have taken with Chahal he is very passionate about what he is teaching, and he genuinely cares about the success of his students. He very much encourages critical thinking about society and the institutions within, so if you are not interested in that, I would not recommend taking his classes. Overall he is an excellent prof!

Chahal is an excellent professor. He also looks like Dr. Oz. He does have a habit of answering your questions with another question and is sometimes unclear in his questions. But, he is nice enough of a guy to repeat and reexplain if need. Not too many readings and interesting material. It is evident that Walid enjoys his job.

Walid is caring, understanding and clear in his classes. I have taken his classes twice, and I would say he is one of my favourite Lakehead professors. He is funny, he answers questions and is clear in the subject matter and his theories. A bit of a rambler, but funny and a great teacher!

Walid Chahal is one of the best professors I have ever had at LU. He cares about the success of his students and will do what he can as a prof to give you the tools you need to succeed in his course. He also MAKES SURE that students have a good understanding of the material being covered, through in class discussion.

Walid Chahal is one of the best professors I have ever had at LU. His lectures cover a good portion of the readings, making it easy to understand what you may have not the first time around - for those who dont read, its pretty nice. BEST PART - he WANTS his students to succeed! He gives the feedback and guidance you will need to do your best

I took his class because the course outline seemed very interesting. I didn't realize that I was signing up for a class with a professor that did not like to be challenged, would not answer questions, and gave awful feedback. If you ask a question, be prepared to have it brushed off, or essentially have it restated to you without answer.

He appears passionate and to care about student learning, but this prof is a nightmare. He's hypocritical and biased in his analyses, often backing up arguments with his opinions. In order to get the "correct" answer, you basically need to agree with him. I find him arrogant, often going off topic to gloat about him life and his achievements.

Walid lectures in rambling run on sentences. He frequently stops the class to take comments. While encouraging class discussion, he never acknowledges a point that disagrees with his central theses. Generally, he will just end discussion and change the subject. This quickly becomes insulting to anyone genuinely interested in the topics.

This class was very easy. That said his directions for writing papers couldn't be more unclear!! If he wanted a 5 page paper why didn't he just put that in the out line? Lectures were very boring and I would go as far as to say I will be telling my friends to avoid taking his classes.

Prof owns, has sweet comb-over. Everyone who says he's not clear just needs to look up the following words because every other sentence Chahal uses will have one of the following: PEDOGOGY, METHODOLOGY, HEGEMONY, IDEOLOGY. Come to class ready to discuss and you'll do fine. Oh yeah, make sure you are ready to CRITICALLY REFLECT too.
