This professor has this online class for one reason only. To collect and extra paycheck. His video lectures aren't even his own, and he updates grades 2-3 weeks after you have submitted stuff. Once you get the hang of his style its okay and you can do well as long as you study. If there is ever another professor that offers this though, take them!

Comment:

Lectures are hard to follow and does not apply to the quizzes or tests. Quizzes are timed, the time is based on how long it takes him to do the quiz. The answer on the quiz might be right but points are still taken away for petty mistakes. I don't recommend him. Be prepared to take this class again if you must take it at this school.

Took Finite as an online course. Making and grading tests was the only thing McHenry had to do and it still took weeks for him to enter grades, I had no clue what my grade was going into the final since he had not entered a grade in 3 weeks because he was vacationing and auditioning for Jeopardy. Did not buy the textbook and still got an A.

He wants you to learn what he teaches he has a real passion for mathematics and really wishes to share it. Walter will help you whenever he can but you will need to study and practice the classes he teaches are never easy that's just the nature of this level of math, it's a big jump from other offerings at LLC.

Walter is very intelligent and likes to use a lot of technical lingo; don't let this phase you. If you don't understand something, ask him. I guarantee there are others who don't understand either. Go to office hours, google confusing concepts, and do the homework. You get the grade you work for. I had 4 of his classes, all A's. Don't lose hope...

Walter McHenry is just like any other instructor. He expects you to come to class, participate, and go home to study. If you don't want to study or really try to grasp the concepts on your own, you will fail. True, he likes to use "math lingo", but you can't get caught up on what he says. Again, I would implore any student of his to read the book.

There is way too much material in his course and he speeds through it as if it's a refresher course. For every hour in his class, I spent three on YouTube teaching myself the lesson because he did such a poor job. The only way too pass is to neglect every other course you have and get access to the previous semester's tests.75% of the class dropped

Worst class I have ever taken! He does not give any help, I am a straight A student and am barely keeping afloat in his class. All of his tests are impossible to do. He does not explain chapters thoroughly. And we have tests on assignments before we even learn the chapter!

Walter is an incredibly nice guy outside of class, however, in class he expects a lot from his students. This man is EXTREMELY intelligent and is way too smart to be teaching this material. Unless you understand math terminology very well, passing his class will be tough. He also provides no help to his students if they don't understand.

Took his finite math course online, despite poor reviews from this site and friends who had him in class. I barely made it through, but don't let that turn you away. -Do your best to get every single point you can on homework and quizzes (you will need them, trust me) -Study for tests out of the book and with Youtube videos (know the concepts)

Subject is easy the teacher is not. Do EVERY single problem that he assigns. If he doesn't assign a certain number do it anyway. Quizzes are timed and the class got 3 minutes for one of them. The class topics wouldn't be bad if it were taught by someone else. Thinks he is better than the students and that this math is so easy a caveman could do it

Walter is a really great guy, however, if you cannot take a joke it will be a rough semester. His tests are hard and the reading quizzes will tank your grade. But the online quizzes should balance out. He is very passionate about math but he really does not care if the students know it or not. Be prepared to study a lot for his tests only to do bad

He does not care if his students learn anything. I took him for other math classes (no other teacher taught the classes I needed) and he has taught a single application problem in one of the four classes I have had with him. There is online assignments that you have to score 10/10 on all of them to balance out failing all the tests he gives.

If you do not care about the class, he will not care about you. He definitely knows his stuff. Calc 3 is a little shaky, because he has only thought it a few times. Calc 2 is his baby, and he expects a lot out of you in it. Easy A, if you actually care.
