Comment:

If you're not some sort of a math genius, don't take any class with Walker. He expects you to correct all of the mistakes he makes during lecture and yells at you when you don't know the answer. He goes off on 30-45 minute tangents and doesn't go through any examples; I didn't learn a single thing. He's out to humiliate you, not to help you learn.

He is the worst professor I have had, by far. He always expects you to know what he is talking about and if you don't, he will give you a hard time for it. He makes everyone feel useless and stupid. The best tip if you have to take a class with him is to be low-key and don't participate much, that way he won't be able to humilliate you

He is very confusing. He will end up on tangents, then forget what he is talking about. Even before tangents, he forgets what he is talking about. He also expects you to know what he means when he says something completely different. Don't take his class if you want to keep your sanity.

Took intro to stats with him, such a bad professor, completely disorganized teaching style. Randomly jumps around the book without allowing sequential learning, assumes everyone knows stats like he does. Just keeps asking "are you following me". I wouldn't follow this guy into the pearly gates.

Comment:

One of the worst professors that I have had. He is unclear at teaching and explaining things, he has terrible organization which doesn't help,and he usually scares off the few people that are willing to try. Take home tests are key. At the end of this course, after consistently trying to learn, I can honestly say I'm leaving with no calc knowledge.

Let me tell you, this was not a fun class, He literally yells at you if you dont understand something. Its impossible to understand anything he is teaching you and if thats not bad enough I got As on all of the tests, and gave me a B in the class. So I went and asked him about it and he said "I didn't think you deserved it" and laughed in my face.

Some people assume that they cant learn from walker because they are bad at math. I did well in his class but it was in spite of him not because of him. He is disorganized, absent-minded, and has no understanding of how to help students learn. He should stop teaching and just do research.

Walker is a really nice guy. His teaching however is really hard to understand if you're not one on one with him. He's a little eccentric but will work with you for as long as you need him to until you understand something. Wouldn't recommend for calc or intro stats though (from what I hear)

He definitely knows what he's doing but he can be pretty rude to you if he doesn't like your question. And yeah he does degrade students like I've seen several other people on here say. It seems to be worse in smaller classes though

Don't listen to all these other comments. Professor Walker is an amazing professor, one of the very few who allow you to actually use your head.That said, his teaching's aren't a walk in the park, so if your looking for an easy class, look elsewhere.

He is not a nice person at all. He degrades people constantly through class and does not care if the students don't understand the material. He grades as if we were getting our PhD in math and still doesn't know names even at the end of the coarse. WORST professor I've had at Eckerd so far! "ARE YOU WITH ME?!" No.
