Wanda is very passionate about the subject but she is a difficult woman to please and although she means the best, her claws can come out sometime so be prepared to put a lottttt of time into the class in and outside of lab/lecture and be prepared to receive a lot of criticism, the class also is a big time commitment! But she prepares you well.

Wanda was a great professor & director of the EMT program at GW. Lectures and lab are pretty much mandatory and there is a lot of content that you have to be comfortable with to pass the NREMT but I learned so much in the class and really prepares you for NREMT. Follow the rules, put in work, and you'll do great! Her lectures run short too!

I wouldn't recommend this class if you aren't 100% sure that you want to be an EMT. Wanda is very strict and treats class like boot camp. This class is also extremely time consuming and there is a ton of extra work outside of class. If you already have a difficult courseload then get your certification somewhere else.

Don't be mistaken, this class is not easy. Don't bother if you don't actually want to be an EMT. That being said, Wanda is tough but knows her stuff and ensures that her students are prepared for the real world. I'd recommend taking this w/ a light courseload, as it is a huge time investment. Ultimately if you work really hard, you'll do well.

This class is well worth it, if you put in the effort you will get good returns. Practice outside of class, don't come to class unprepared and don't think you can just wing it on exams. That being said, Wanda is amazing, the class is never boring, and you get good life skills out of it. 10/10 would recommend but not an easy A.

Wanda is great. Although her bluntness can sometimes rub people the wrong way, if you put in some effort she will reward you. You need to read the book and review her handouts every week to do well, but if you study you'll come out well-prepared for the certification exam. Wanda is a good, touch teacher who wants the best for her students.

I gave this class a 1 in clarity because you have different medics who teach you in lab and they will all tell you conflicting procedures which then confuse you and are very different than what is expected for testing. Also, every other saturday is practice which lasts from 9 am to 5 (essential to passing). I did not feel prepared for the National

If you not at least 80% sure you want to be an EMT DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Its a lot of work and Wanda is not easy to deal with. In my opinion she played favorites with her students and her strict and cold persona often came across as just plan rude. I honestly would not recommend this class. Waste of time and causes unnecessary stress.

Wanda can be intimidating, for sure. In the end, she really just wants to produce the best EMTs possible. She puts you in intense situations in class so you're prepared for work in the field. She's a lot of fun and very helpful. Her stories are always great. Be sure you read and don't miss class- if you don't REALLY want to be an EMT, don't bother.

If you want to take an EMT course, take it over the summer. Don't deal with Wanda its really not worth it. Lab can be confusing, and when she teaches it (instead of one of the medics, its awful).

Wanda is really strict, but I found that to be a real motivator. As long as you attend EVERY lab and lecture, and do some studying/ skills practice at home you should be ok. Her lab quizzes are awful - memorize every last word of the handouts!!

Wanda is extremely tough and strict, but she's still really helpful and nice. Honestly, I enjoyed the material in the class, but it's so time demanding that I don't recommend taking it unless you have a VERY light schedule otherwise. I took it with bio and died.

Wanda is an excellent professor! She's tough and strict but if you stay on her good side you'll be fine. This class takes up ALL of your time though, so be wary of that. I'd recommend only taking 3 other classes in addition to this one. It says it's 4 credits, but that's extremely deceptive - it should be more like 6. Very rewarding though!

Wanda is a no-nonsense instructor who takes her job seriously. She is committed to producing high-quality EMT's that know much more than the standard National Registry curriculum. If you are not serious about EMS you do not belong in her class. She goes above and beyond to help those who are serious about learning. Best professor hands down.

Terrible Professor, by the far the worst I have thus far. She cares more about putting her students down than teaching them anything. I learned nothing in the entire class except for how to be yelled at. Bitter woman. She is a terrible person and a worse teacher. I would not wish her on anyone!

You all have to realize something: Wanda babies you. She is easy compared to people who would be instructing you at an academy (where most people take the class). The problem is that people who take this class generally have NO interest in EMS. If you are interested in becoming an EMT you should take this class, otherwise don't take it.

Wanda likes being in charge and she lacks interpersonal skills. She enjoys chastising students for bizarre reasons. She does not instruct the EMT labs but simply coordinates them. GWU EHS hires practicing paramedics to teach the actual labs. Some are great at what they do and others are simply there for a paycheck. You will learn the EMT-B basics.
