Textbooks are recommended but not necessary in my opinion as long as you attend the class and take good notes you will pass with a good grade. Easy grader!

Class consists of three papers. 2 sets of essay questions, and 1 term paper. One of the sets of questions are optional. He is a fairly good lecturer, take extensive notes. His grading is completely arbitrary, or at least he does not state how he grades. Worked really hard on a long term paper, got a B, with no explanation at all.

He's a nice guy, but very inconsistent in terms of grading. I wrote a long detailed essay and I received a lower grade than a friend who wrote a short essay that had little to no analysis. He also did not provide any comments on either paper. Very upsetting.

Wayne Froman is a very boring professor, but not a bad one. It's clear that he's trying to impose some sort of ideology in his teaching. However, If you just take notes in his lectures and write detailed essays you'll get an A for sure. If you care to learn something, you won't get it here, but if you just want the easy A, definitely take Froman.

Professor Froman is a very nice and funny person. If you go to class and take notes you will pass! Only 2 papers through the semester.

Eh, he's a good prof but very boring. Super old fashioned, wants you to read 93713 books but not really necessary.. Only 2 papers throughout the entire semester so if you bomb one you're not looking so great for your final grade.

Very easy class as long as you go. Only assigns 2 papers for the entire semester. Just go to class, take word for word notes on his lectures, and use your notes to write the papers. I never read a single book for this course. Just go to class!

He's a really friendly, laid back guy but don't be obvious about using your phone in class... His lectures are fairly boring but if you show up to every class, write down every word that falls from his mouth, and regurgitate your notes onto the only two graded papers he assigns, you'll get at least an A-. This class was a very easy lit credit.

Only went to class around 5 times the whole semester, ended up with a good grade surprisingly. He only has two sets of essays the whole semester on short stories you have to read, you can read the books online and he is an easy grader. I never went to the lectures because he was very boring and lost his train of thought every couple seconds

His lectures aren't that dull and are most of the time quite interesting. With only 2 papers to write for the entire semester it doesn't get much simpler. He gets upset when nobody speaks up due to lack of reading but it's understandable. If you take notes when he outlines the novels and include it all in your essay you'll get a B at the least.

OMG, this man is BORING to the max!! We read like 50 books and wrote 2 papers about 4 of the books (you can choose which books) that we read in class. You really have to take good notes in order to do good on the papers, and this is hard to do with this boring professor. Would never take him again in life!

Froman is a classic PHIL professor that knows way more than you ever will about his specialty. That said, he is a patient man, not condescending, and makes himself available if you need help. Assigns a lot of reading, but there were only two papers, one on class material, and one on a topic of choice. Fair grader. I got a B+ with semi-hard effort.

Comment:
Prof. Froman's class is not mandatory (he does not take attendance); however, if you want to get a good grade on the two papers you must go to every class. For the essays, write the whole story. Assume the reader has no idea what you're talking about. Use direct quotes from the book to make your argument stronger and you're set.

His thoughts can get mixed up sometimes or talk about very irrelevant topics for a whole class period but most of the times he makes the class interesting. i would never think id find philosophy or greek mythology interesting but i did because of him. its also an easy A.

Froman is a very deliberate speaker who can also be very entertaining. Very simple class with only two sets of essays making up the class. Class can get boring, but the simplicity of the course makes it worth it. Easy A for literature gen ed requirement.
