I took his biology seminar in the summer, and we only had to attend lecture for a week, write a ten page research paper, and give an oral presentation on our topic. (There were also a few other easy assignments). This class is mandatory for bio majors, so I highly recommend taking it in the summer - there's less work!

He clearly detailed what was expected on the 1st day, and covered every piece required for a good grade, including rubric. Some missed days, presented seminar in jeans/hoodies and wondered why they got a low B or C....it's seminar!!!!

Dr Hynes is very knowledgable and is willing to help you understand concepts if you are having difficulty. He is very well organized and content is quite heavy so you will need to come prepared to class. He encourages discussion which makes the class more interesting than just listening to lecture. He is a diamond in the rough of professors at ODU

Great guy and a good teacher. Be prepared to attend class (participation is counted and if you miss more than 3 classes you will pay for it dearly)and listen. Tests are quite hard and all free answer...plus its almost impossible to get all the possible points on questions. GOOD ADVICE: DO WELL IN LAB - ITS WORTH 40% AND CAN SAVE YOU!!!!!

He's a great teacher from New Zealand! You'll have to study and prepare for class. He makes you earn your grades. That's what college is supposed to be. He counts participation and attendance to boost your grade. He doesn't give multiple choice tests, only short answer/essay, but they are designed to help you instead of hurt you. TAKE HIS CLASSES!
