I wish I would have known about this website earlier because it would have prevented me from taking this class. He is a very hard grader. I received a C on an essay which surprised me because I usually always receive between an A+ to a B+. This was my first C. Even his tests I thought were unfair.

I'm going to be honest here. Northcutt is a very very smart guy. He knows his stuff well, and makes an interesting lecture. I do believe he could try to be a bit more social though. As for his grading, it is ridiculous... I don't know why he needs to make things so difficult. He made us remember random presidential cabinet members. HARD CLASS

Class itself isn't bad, tests are awful. He wants to know things like popultion of the soviet union in 1950 and how many people died in vietnam in 1970. Its ridiculous. History should be thematic, not an almanac!

contimplating wether to take this dude's class or not, i found the reviews mind changing (especially the on comparing him to a wiener).I actually had northcutt for a french revolution class, and dropped it after 2 classes because he wouldn't let us wear our hats in his sacred learning environment.

honstly one of the best teachers NU has. He really knows his stuff. He comes off as a little unapproachable, but if you ask him for help he'll give it. He's a published author and so very concerned about paper-writing.
