I took his astronomy class online and was soing well on the self tests but struggling with the actual tests, so I emailed him and asked for help and he told me to do the extra credit instead of giving me tips on studying. I'm usually an A student and I've made Cs in half of the tests so far.

Comment:

Mr. Wooten gives self assessment test that aren't graded but don't have anything to do with the quizzes or the final. There was a lot of confusion with labs and students having to request new information. Submitted labs in the program instructed and given for 1-6 and 7-11 was told I used the wrong program. He's passionate about astronomy.

Dr. Wooten is probably the best professor I've ever had!!! I'm horrible at astronomy, but he's very accessible outside of class and will walk you through step by step and help you with the labs!! Strongly recommend taking him!!!!!

Comment:

This class is the chance of a lifetime. Dr Wooten is deeply knowledgeable about his profession, which also happens to be what he teaches. He has personal involvment in astronomy over many years. He is able to add a level of passion that you will find infectious.

Dr. Wooten is a brilliant person and he is a great teacher. His class is tough if you are not scientifically inclined, though. But he gives you the opportunity for 12 extra credit points for each of the four tests, and for the first three tests, you can do remedials to improve your test grade to a B. Not an easy class, but you can definitely pass.

Four tests determine your grade and that's it. Tests all multi-choice/true-false. Pretty darn easy, plus very interesting. Chapter self-tests not for a grade basically give you good study guides for the four tests. Final was not cumulative. Would take again.

I didnt take Dr. Wooten for the lab, just the Astronomy class and it was fun. I learned a lot and have gotten a lot of extra credit. He goes over the tests during class then you have a test review and the test. They arent that bad and he offers extra credit of up to around 12 points for each test by reading articles and other stuff.

Brilliant man. Very dedicated to astronomy and teaching. Cares more about teaching and helping students than they realize. I took this course when in my 50's. Studied hard and made an A. In my 20's, I would have made a D due to the amount of study required. How many old guys wish they could do it all over again?

I took Dr. Wooten for Astronomy and the Lab for it. Expect to read a TON. Lecture class online requires reading a few chapters then taking a test. Lab, you use a couple programs to complete labs. Dr. Wooten offers remedial work if you score low on a test or lab. Very interesting class and I would highly recommend Dr. Wooten.

This is an interesting, but hard course. If not for the extra credit and remedial work Dr. Wooten offers I wouldn't have come close to a B. I took the web-based course and it consisted of reading the textbook and completing worksheets that are used to study for the tests. There are a lot of facts to memorize and tests are hard. Good teacher.

Dr. Wooten is an excellent teacher. He is very dedicated to helping people understand a subject he cares for deeply. He strives to peak peoples interest in Astronomy. If you show an interest in class he will show interest in helping you. If you can follow instructions and not be afraid to ask for help, then it is an easy A+! He grades very quickly.

He is an extremely lenient teacher & is there to help when you need it. He offers helps with his labs and most of the time ends up doing it for you! He give your grades back to you asap. There's no way you can fail this class. He offers extra credit & remedials for you to do! If you fail it is your own fault! Nice teacher, totally recommend him!

Dr. Wooten is enthusiastic and upbeat as he lectures and points out the material that will be on the test. Listen in class and memorize your study guide and earn your A! If you are interested in Astronomy this is the teacher to have and to become involved in the Astronomy club.

Dr. Wooten seems to ramble and mainly ask questions rather than state facts. I really like him on a personal level, but I just couldn't get anything out of his class. I love Astronomy but his teaching style wasn't easy. I felt confused when I left class.
