By far my favourite prof at McGill. His lectures are absolutely captivating. I am the kind of student who becomes easily bored/distracted but I never felt this way in his class (and it should be noted that the lectures ran for 3 hours).

This man is the best professor Ive ever had in my four years of McGill. Extremely passionate about his material, yet fairly easygoing when it comes to difficulty. I rarely write reviews for profs, but professor Straw had such an impact on my McGill experience, I had to provide a positive review. Do yourself a favour and take a course with him.

Dr. Straw is in my top 3 teachers I've had in 4 years at McGill. I took Visual Culture of Crime and Dr. Straw was so passionate about the material + he was thorough in his study but lighthearted in his teaching. It was 3h lectures but definitely the most enjoyable of my week; 2 essays with super detailed feedback and 1 very fair final exam.

Took coms250 media of crime with professor Straw, excellent lecturer and always engaging the students with interesting contents. Papers are not too difficult with him, would definitely take his course again.

Great. An institution. A Penne-Caterwaul type of professor if there ever was one. I'd do it all again. Totally current in his field. Knows the city. Helps students. I could go on, but I won't waste your time. You get the beautiful picture.

Prof. Straw is one of the best professors ever. Take his classes- they are full of interesting tidbits that will affect the way you see so much of the world around you. He is fascinating and interesting, and the classes are not hard to do well in because the work is so enjoyable and the class time is so fun- a Prof. you'll really respect.
