Comment:
Professor Butos is one of Trinity's worst Economics professors. From his inability to connect with students to his unconventional way of describing the information, the sole fact that he is your professor is a reason to drop the course.

Comment:
Professor Butos has a hard nosed reputation but is brilliant. His lectures are fantastic and often gives them without looking at any notes. Don't be afraid to speak up, he likes it, although he will let you know if you are wrong. If you want to learn, take this class. Absolutely brilliant Professor with a nice, dry sense of humor.

Comment:
The thing with Butos is he will tell you, clearly and succinctly, if you are wrong. Many students will take this personally and, as a result, I've found those students don't fair well in his classes. If you keep an open mind, and are willing to learn from your mistakes, he's probably the best teacher you will find on campus.

Professor Butos is "the man", he is one of few economists who clearly understands what is happening to our current economy. if you want to take an intellectually stimulating course that gives you more than ample knowledge on our current economic climate, then take any class taught by him. his classes and grades are very meritocratic.

Literally terrifying for the first week of class. An incredibly hard grader as the gateway to an Econ Major. B grades are A's with Butos. However, despite the difficult grading, I learned an incredible amount, even after taking both AP econs. Butos is very knowledgeable and if you study and read you will do well.

His lectures are very clear. Uses good examples to clarify his points. Doesn't give much but is a very hard grader. Overall I enjoyed my classes with him and learned a lot.

Comment:
Professor Butos is under the rather false pretense that he is "the man". Condescending, incomprehensible, cocky, arrogant, elitist, pretentious, demeaning, "holier than thou" nose wrinkling, unapproachable, sniveling,snake-like, this man has less backbone than a jelly fish. To my freshman to be bantams, avoid him at all costs, your GPA willthankyou

Butos is tough, and he makes Econ 101 seem like the most intense thing in the world. However, if you pay attention, contribute, and act the least bit interested, he won't give you a hard time. Personally, he scared the $h!t out of me.

Incredibly pretentious and condescending. I do not find him at all helpful when i go for extra help. Takes large amounts of points off for mistakes with wording rather than content. Very difficult, especially for a 101 class.

Although he may appear a bit distant and a tough grader at first, he is passionate about what he does and a great person to talk to. If you are independent and willing to voice your opinions, you will love him and he will appreciate you.

While the class may not be extremely easy, it is extremely informative. You may not get the best grade but if you're interested in economics Ol' Billy is the best teacher to give you a solid backround. He is a hard grader but he teaches so well that if you pay attention and do the work you'll do fine on the tests. Provides basis for future in econ.

The most ruthless grader I have ever encountered. If there is even an iota of vagueness in your answer points coming flying off. Has stupid rule that "u have to be able to say it in 25 words or less". I pulled an A- but worked my ass off for it.Can be very condescending at times. Brilliant economist but really shouldn't be teaching an intro class.

Very tough teacher. However, he is always willing to provide extra help if needed. this class will provide a solid econcomic foundation. I advise students not to take his class during their freshmen first semester.

Great Professor. Explains and correlates different readings well. Although he is not outwardly friendly he is always helpful when asked. His class is very structured and demanding, but he is always very clear about what is expected on assignments and grades fairly accordingly.
