While I believe that Dr. Covington was a great journalist in the day, he doesn't transfer over his knowledge and usefulness to the classroom. Our classes were all lecture, no news writing at all, and were very boring. He read straight off of a powerpoint the whole time.

Worst professor I've ever had. I ask him questions outside of class and he gives me no respect and practically makes fun of me. He is so rude and his class is so pointless. The things he goes over are like 100% common knowledge and the tests are a crap shoot, either they are straight forward and super easy or things he didn't teach on, terrible.

He knows his stuff. He has the most dry, cheesy humor but it makes the class a little less boring. He conducts all the classes he teaches the same--powerpoint notes, research papers/presentations, and tests. Participate and do your work (which is easy) and you pass.

There's one more week in the semester and he doesn't even know my name. It isn't because I don't participate in the class, it is because he doesn't like me. I was unclear of the 1st paper's criteria & messed up & he slashed my grade for it as expected. But after that, he never called on me again. Advice: do good initially and get on his good side.

One of the worst teachers I've ever had. Sad that I payed to watch irrelevant YouTube videos for 90 minutes. His grading standards are also ridiculous. If he doesn't like you, expect to get a C.

Easy prof, but didn't learn anything. Cares more about citations and length in speeches than eye contact, gestures, etc. All grading is inconsistent and he def has favorites (usually girls). Good for getting credits, but not learning anything.

I have Dr. Covington for Public Speaking currently (fall '10). I have the class once a week from 6-8:30. We either are presenting speeches or taking notes, and you usually get out early. His tests are hard and partially irrelevent to the lectures. He's a really nice teacher though, and undestands any interferring circumstances.

Terrible. If you actually want to learn, do not take him. He does not teach. the class gives speeches, the day after speeches are finished you take a test on the textbook. Repeat. He never goes over the textbook content and he has favorites. Prepare to be lectured every day about attendance and tardiness.

I think Dr. Cov. Is a pretty good prof. He is a little silly, and cracks jokes a lot, and is always laughing. I will warn you attendance and being punctual is mandatory. He is a stickler for using sources when doing papers. But his class always gives you a good laugh. Its pretty easy, over all i would take him again.

I've had Dr. Covington for two classes, the most recent being Broadcast Media Management. He openly criticizes students, grades on favoritism, does not cover any test material during class, and forces you to watch irrelevant videos he taped from PBS in the 1980s.

He's a strange one. I'll be honest - I like him, but he's not the best teacher. Be prepared to watch a lot of irrelevant movies instead of listening to lectures. You MUST come to every class, and you MUST be on time. He will hate you if you don't. Tests are straight from the book, so be prepared to do a lot of reading.
