Comment:
Professor Dillon is actually a solid professor. Just don't give up and do explain every little thing that you write because if not, he's likely to take what you wrote as an assumption instead of a fact, which lowers your grade. Also, try chatting with him, outside of class. Graded on 3 exams only... good luck.

Expect only a C from this professor. Class based only on exams. Lectures on cases but goes off topic into cases that don't matter. Attendance isn't mandatory but on days before exam, gives guidelines on what exam will be on. Very tough grader on exams, can't read writing. Longest 2 1/2 hours of my life in each class. Def do not take this professor!

Probably the hardest professor I've ever had because he grades tough on exams and does not thoroughly explain before the 1st exam on how its going to be like. Almost everyone in my class got a C on his 1st exam. It would've really helped if we did some in class work to prep before the day of the exam but half the time he likes to listen to him talk

I feel sorry for all the gov majors that have to take him because there's no way around. He's the only professor teaching constitutional law and his classes are difficult. It will require a lot of reading so I strongly suggest going to his office hours and doing your topical summary. But you will dislike his class because he goes off topic a lot.

The greatest professor I've ever had. Pushes you to learn, is often profound, and truly cares for his students and their education. He may seem stern, but it is only because he cares. If you care about your education, you will appreciate his classes. If you just want to get a piece of paper, you may be end up bitter.

Got an A. 2 tests with notes, and an optional final. He will mark you down on your tests for seemingly small things only because he wants you to explain everything and not imply it. He basically gives you the prompt for each test on how to go about it before the test. Just pre-write most of your exam before and be very careful with your wording.

3 written exams, heavy analytical lectures, with a good amount of reading each week. Class exercises critical thinking skills!! No extra credit offered, so taking thorough notes and correctly mastering case brief format prepares students for the exams! Strict, thoughtful, candid, and purposeful! Always accessible during office hours!!

You do not need to buy the booklet with all the cases. Just find the cases online and get the case briefs. All of his classes are super boring, and he's a very tough grader. 2 exams and the final ended up being optional for our class. Not all the cases are on the exam so just wait for the review and he will tell you what to study.

TRUST ME! He is actually easy if you just FOLLOW the outline he tells u to write the exam. U HAVE 2explain everything, not imply. You get to use notes and stuff on exam. I got a B on the first exam, and an A- on the second because i prepared how i would respond. Lecture is boring af, did not buy book, wikis good, take good notes on reasons and why.

This Professor is a tough grader. He wants you to show through the three essay exams that you know the law and its application thoroughly. The course is reading heavy, and if you don't read the cases you WILL fall behind. Discussion based class sessions. He is great in office hours, takes the time to answer all of your questions there. Expect work.

Grade is based on 3 exams. All the work is from case briefings, which are fairly difficult to read. He gets on so many tangents, you never know what we are going to talk about. He is a crazy, but highly intelligent man. Its unfortunate that he is the only one that teaches one of the required core classes.

He is a gem. He teaches the class like it's a law class. Yes, he can be really intimidating, but he is SO FUNNY, too. Just do the reading, (just look the cases up on wiki and make your briefs), speak up, and you'll be fine. I've taken both of his classes. His exam prep class sessions are a MUST. PAY ATTENTION. He is surprisingly patient.

dear god have mercy on government majors souls. Unfortunately there's no way around taking this professor unless he finally realizes that 78 is too old to be teaching... hardest class ever. it doesn't matter how much you study it doesn't matter how much blood sweat and tears go into exams you will get a C- take a credit no credit. final is optional

Yes, he's probably the hardest grader in the whole department, but if you follow the directions to the T and formulate a logical argument that demonstrates what he's looking for, you'll do fine. Read the cases, know what questions to ask during office hours, and show up for every class. I got an A because I know how to write and ask questions.

Enjoyable professor. He adds a lot of background to the cases and makes them easier to understand. Lots of reading to do. Three tests including final, but the final is optional. He is old school tough but fair. Best way to pass is make sure you read the cases before and after lectures, go to class, and create a good topical summary.

Self-interested teacher proving just how tough he is through his impossible grading. The gov teachers all joke about him. He's thoroughly despised and what exactly he's looking for on his tests are a mystery. No amount of sucking-up or office visits can help you. You may know the material and still get a C because he's out to prove his toughness.

This class was strange. Out of the 90 students in all three of his classes, I got the highest grade at an A- and I have NO idea why. Everyone else got C's! As far as I can tell the only difference I did was keep it simple and concise. REALLY SIMPLE. Like middle school simple. He's really confusing and not consistent with his grading. Keep it SIMPLE

I wanted to do good in this class, but its nearly impossible. By glancing at the grade book when checking my grade, I know I wasnt alone in the sea of c-'s. Bottom line, I'm just glad I passed. Its a super boring class, sometimes the cases were interesting, but I feel like if he taught it in a more engaging way it would have helped me do better.
