Some quotes: "In the mind of the old, the young are the enemy" "My library card expired, and oh yeah, so did my Grandma" "Anthropologists tell us that women go for more brutish guys, because they are better equipped to protect their families from dinosaurs and stuff" "If I told my wife 10% of what I think, she'd lock me away, with good reason!"

I had him for creative writing a few years back. I love english and I'm a good student but he made everybody feel stupid and inferior. It didn't help that he fell asleep when we read our stories aloud to the class. I think he's just too jaded for teaching for so long. I wouldn't recommend unless you are a brilliant writer.

he's sooooo boring and so weird. wouldnt take a class from him again. he teaches you nothing about writing, doesn't help you at all but if you're really good at writing you'll get an A in the class without trying. i would recomend this if you need an IA and dont wanna take art other than that it sucked

This is a form of Doreski's Lit Form&Hist Class. Although I feel that Professor Doreski's classes on writing are wonderful and a great experience for any writer, as an English Major, I feel like his Lit class was a bit muddled and confusing at times. Although we learned a lot, it seemed a bit disjointed and not as interesting as his other classes.

I have taken a few of Professor Doreski's classes now. This is a review of his poetry workshop class. Doreski's poetry workshop is a great experience, and you really learn to improve your writing and poetry. He cultivated a fun, joking atmosphere in the various classes, but still manages to keep a critical approach to improving individual writing.

Professor Doreski is a great critic of poetry, and he has helped to improve my writing greatly, however his humor is a bit too sophisticated for some students, and some people find him to be cold & distant. I didn't get that impression at all. A great teacher for writing minors.

As soon as you walk into his classroom you are not you as a person anymore. You're an apathetic student who hates English and is only taking his class because you have to. He has a very negative view on students. He's not a ray of sunshine. And I don't expect my teachers to be. But I do expect my teachers to think of me as more than just a number.

Fiction workshop with Doreski was always a treat. Grammar counts fairly heavily, as there were classmates of mine otherwise deserving of A s that got B s. If you care about your writing and aren't a knucklehead about grammar, the class is both enjoyable and easy. Doreski is a hoot, and will often set the class to laughing with quirky statements.

Dr. Doreski was my advisor. I took every class I possibly could take from him, even though he was the toughest prof. He was an excellent professor, and he is an inspiration to my writing & my to my career as a teacher. I appreciate his honesty and his history. The man knows...the man knows... (P.S.-- He has nothing against girls!)

Comment:
Prof. Doreski is just a little too bitter sometimes- no doubt, the man knows writing and made mine much better for my time as his student, but his personal distaste for the world can at times be a bit much- and it goes beyond mere dry humor and scathing wit- it just seems like he's angry at the world but too dour to do more than be bitter and sulk.

To turn one of his own words against him, he's a little highfalutin at times, but it must get lonely up there in the ether. I think when you finally crack the riddles of this sphinx, you'll see the rewards were well worth the confusion. Read carefully the comments on your papers. They are a gift.

He's a total name dropper. It's amusing. And I don't think he's a great poet. Still, his reading of poetry is impeccable. If you want to learn about poetry, he is the only one at KSC who can teach you. He will help you write because he can read like no one else. I respect him. He's a real teacher.
