Highly entertaining lectures, unique lecturing style. Clear and to the point. Highly knowledgeable, as he's been doing it since 1965! A pleasure.

Boy, does Larkin love to belabor the obvious. Spends whole lecture playing hide-the-ball in vain effort to make dumb points seem deep. Yeah, we get it, Larkin, so move on already. Friendly in a superficial way, but very full of himself: He obviously thinks all his students are idiots, even those who are actually smarter than he is.

This was the worst class I had ever had the misfortune of taking at UCSC. How do you make War boring? I don't understand how he does it. Ol Larkin needs to be put out to pasture yesterday. He has defintely lost his enthusiam for teaching. His responses to questions students asked was the most entertaining part of the class because he did not the qu

What an AWFUL class. Avoid this guy at all costs. He is intelligent, but doesn't teach well at all. His lectures make no sense, have nothing to do with the class, and aren't even interesting. Plus, he won't give straight answers if you ask questions about sources for papers, etc.

I totally agree with the rating below. I was really excited for this class, but he makes it boring. He seems like a nice guy but could use some oomph in his lectures. He's also biased, which I think limits the quality of the course. We discuss pertinent issues, but he never goes in depth; I'm also unable to take notes.

I admit, Larkin is an incredibly intelligent guy, with a pleasant, booming professorial voice. I had high hopes for this class. Unfortunately, his lectures are given in monotone, he tends to ramble, and they are so difficult to follow at the end of class I haven't been able to take any notes. Really a shame, as I was psyched to be in this class.

Anyone who dosen't love Larkin is a worthless moron. "he lost my term paper" is 5 words, not 4. Moron! Most college students should be forced into labor camps and beaten severely. Larkin is the best professor at UCSC.

Razor sharp and incredibly well informed, Bruce helped shape my education in a way few professors could. All this whining about the workload and him being "boring" simply confirms my fears about bourgeois layabouts having taken over my once glorious alma mater. R.I.P., UCSC.

The politics of war seems as if it would be very interesting, but Larkin made it extremelly boring. The books were all very dry, including his which costs $60 (don't buy it) and the lectures were hard to follow. It was ok, but I wouldn't recomend it.

Extremely boring and monotone, class is worthless, yet has mandatory attendance, the reading were completely unrelated and numerous. A man in his own world, with little connection to his classroom. stay away from this one at all costs.

Larkin is a genious. His tactics are raw and unparalled. He is by far one of the smartest people I have ever met. He is noticeably turned on to politics and it makes him a great professor. Only for serious political students.

The man is a political encyclopedia. If knowledge is what you crave, Larking is the man. He is very friendly and helpful, although in class he is often unclear, jumps around topics, and is somewhat monotone.
