Had to take this class as a GE, literally he just puts up a slideshow and reads from it. Never paid attention in class, hardly did any of the readings, and it was still pretty easy to cram and get a good grade on his tests. He's a droner... He expects way too much reading for a 200 level course.

Pretty dry and kinda pointless to listen during lecture, but you have to go because he gives at least one pop quiz a week, so you have to do the reading. Lots of reading but you can skim it and be fine. Only two tests, one short paper. Fairly easy class, but you have to focus because it's really boring. Adds in dry humor at times. Go to TA reviews!

Professor Hamblin is fair, even merciful, but not very approachable or helpful. This class requires a large amount of reading and reading recall for the tests.

This was good class. I really did learn a lot. My only complaints were that this class was 99 percent about Jerusalem. Which is fine if you like Jerusalem but it's not necessarily an accurate description of "World" history. Also, he wasn't really approachable to talk to, you had to talk to the TA's instead. Lots of quizzes. Do the reading!

Hamblin is great. He is very knowledgeable and i learned a TON. But most of it was based around Jerusalem and not world history. And if you take this class be SURE to do the readings (and trust me there is a LOT of reading). All in all a good class. It was fair enough and although it was a bit of work, that is to be expected in a history class.

Great prof. Very reasonable class. Really enjoyable. Anyone that didn't do well in this class either didn't attend the lectures or didn't read.

Such a good class. It wasn't that challenging, and the readings were pretty simple. He is willing to meet with students and help them out. Just make sure you do the readings and you'll be fine. The study guides also help a lot!

Prof. Hamblin is seriously so funny! I loved his class, very thorough, if you go and use his keynote pages for each class you'll ace it. He has a great research base for his class. Really amazing teacher, one of the best I have ever had. There is a lot of reading, but if you keep up on it, its not that bad.

rofessor Hamblin is one of my favorite History professors. Although lectures can be dry (in 201) once you get into upper level courses, his interest and personal research shines. Quizzes easy if you do the reading, tends to push paper deadlines back. Really approachable and willing to help if you make the effort. Would take any class from him!!!

Prof. Hamblin tries to act like he doesn't care about students, but he's a teddy bear. All in all, this class isn't to bad. You'll bored to tears for weeks during lectures and then the test comes along and you're totally slammed for a week. That's about how the semester will go. Grading is fair. I would recommend.

He comes across as gruff and uncaring, but it's only an act. Tests are easy if you just study his "keywords"; you can ignore everything in lectures and readings if it's not on the list. There is an insane amount of reading though along with in-class reading quizzes. Not a bad GE option but the amount of reading assignments was painful.

Lectures were terribly boring. I wouldn't have gone to class if there weren't random quizzes. He is not helpful at all. I emailed him 3 times and he responded once. He focuses primarily on Jerusalem, which gets pretty annoying since the class should teach about the whole world. The class wasn't terribly hard, but it is not easy by any means.

This class isn't too bad. There is a ton of reading at times and in class reading quizzes that you only take on some days so you have to do the reading for every class period. His tests aren't too bad, just make sure you study the keywords he gives you. Some questions are a bit tricky though. Go to the TA reviews!!! There is also one 3 pg paper.

Dr. Hamblin is a quality lecturer. He seems a little gruff at first but he's basically a good guy. He teaches a fair class, tests aren't particularly difficult if you study. The workload wasn't bad at all. Put the effort in, and you'll get an A. I'd recommend him.

By far one of the most enjoyable teachers I've ever had. He treats 201 like the freshmen level class that it is, so its extremely easy. Do some minor reading, get quizzed, write an easy paper, take the easy tests, get an A. He's knows his stuff and he's down to earth, so he makes it fun while giving the best context possible for the material.

Dr. Hamblin is a nice guy and a good professor. His lectures are important as he tests from them, but he gives out a good study guide before each test. He gives reading quizzes randomly throughout the semester, so ditch at your own peril. I got a high B in the class because I missed too many reading quizzes. Go to class and use your study guide.

Easy to get a B ish grade, but hard to get an A. VERY little work, only 3 things(2 tests, a paper) + reading quizzes, so bad and good. I would rather do more work in order to get better grade, and some test questions asks about slides you see in class..his whole lecture is slides so kinda tricky.

He is a hilarious teacher, who starts out each class with a joke or a funny slide show of some kind. In class quizzes were always easy if you had done the reading. He is extremely knowledgeable about everything he teaches, and while he seems intimidating at first look, he is very helpful and approachable. I loved his class.
