Not much of a professor,but the the best musician ive ever met. TAKE FOR MUSIC MAJORS. makes you a good musician not student. i wasnt a "fav" but he was the best music teacher at palomar. He is the human embodiment of music. He doesnt care about tardiness/phones etc. only IMPROVEMENT of musicianship. best music teacher ever. EVER.

Knows his stuff very well. Nice person, but kind of strange. Really loves music. If you do not music background I would't recommand him. If you want to learn music you will learn it very well him. He demands a lot.

Class was easy though I was lazy to study but if I've done my best I would of gotten an A. I've never taken a music class and was a bit scared of it bc of the negative comments below but I was surprise it was easy! The only hard parts of the exams are the audio which I recommend at least listening to them and memorizing the info and you'll get an A

Not good. He talks a lot about himself he only talks to part of the class. He leaves you with many questions but doesn't answer ANY of them. He doesn't explain the topics well and gives personal opinions on them. He gives tests that really effects your grade on undiscussed topic. He doesn't grade the tests himself! Someone from the dept grades them

Billy is pretty impressed with himself. Not a real clear communicator. Thinks he has the right to invade people's personal space. America's favorite pastime is baseball, Billy's is putting down students. Tests are ridiculous and have little to do with his lectures. If you are not a music major DO NOT take this class!! I made that mistake.

Hard class. attendance is a must because every class builds on the last. He is very nice but sometimes a little creepy and touchy feely. He picks favorites and makes class uncomfortable for some. He is very into himself and how great of a musician he is. kinda sad. The class was a challenge. i recommend someone else if you are not a music major.

It almost seems like there is a mandatory berating of a student every day in his class. Picks Favorites. Doesn't answer questions Expects everyone to know what he's thinking/learn material instantly. Gives tests day after learning new material. Awful grading system: - or + etc. Doesn't correct material/tests, just marks wrong...you figure it out.

Attendence is a must, each of his classes builds on the next. If you don't know music it's a bit hard to keep up but he makes it as clear as possible. If you're looking to get an easy A with no work and you've never had music, this is not the class for you. If you are a music major, he's got good insight and I recommend him(learn it and get an A).

billy's a little (lot) self-absorbed. he likes to brag and talk about himself. he pretends to listen but he's not. he does, however, seem to know his stuff. an overall good teacher whom i learned a lot from.

He is great teacher. He loves music and shows that in his teaching. He doesn't care how much written work you do as long as you understand the concepts and can demonstrate them. The homework is "just for your benefit". Although I wouldn't suggest taking this class with him unless you're planning on moving onto theory. Not good 4 random elective.

I'm not a music major, but I enjoyed this class. It's not an easy class, there's a lot of memorization. The tests are difficult, especially the "listening pieces" since there's many things to memorize about each song (there's 40 songs throughout the semester). Attendance matters, so show up to class, study hard, and you'll have a chance

lectures from book & own experiences. did not care about attendance. tests were not relevant to what he taught us, some was in chapters we were told not to read. told book purchase not necessary, only lecture info. had favorite students. got very touchy feely. My class had so many issues with professor several of us had to take incompletes.

Not the worst teacher at Palomar, but definitely not the best. I was excited the most about this class since I have some background in music (7 years), but it turned out to be disappointing. Definitely picks his favorites, but is still fair. In my class, it seems like people are afraid to participate because of a fear of being made a spectacle.

I am very disappointed to know this man is what Palomar College has chosen to represent their Music department. I have NEVER had a bad teacher, until now. I suggest you take anyone else. He was unhelpful, hard to read or understand, and refused to clarify and answer questions. The tests did not make sense or relate to Music Appreciation.

I'm a music major and felt completely unsupported by him. Any time I had a performance at school, he'd rarely give me feedback. His class is insanely boring and I had a hard time getting to the class. The tests are fair, but only if you attend class and take notes. Don't rely on your own knowledge of music or the textbook!

Yes, he is a bit eccentric, but his class is not difficult as long as you attend regularly and complete the requirements, which are not at all demanding. He is a pleasant instructor who definitely enjoys music. Hints: start concert attendance early in the session & study key terms (BIG part of the final).

I'm afraid the stats don't do the man credit. He is somewhat insane, getting 3 hours of sleep a night, but he is a consumate musician, and his obtuse, maddening style really forced me to learn and be a good student. He's a little hard to take at times, but he can what? He can what? Deliver.
