Comment:
The lectures are hard to follow because he does not use a textbook. The books that where assigned where extremely dry. He does provide 3 study guides that are irrelevant to the material being taught, and does not believe in providing feedback on discussion topics. If you can take this class at a cc, please do. You might actually enjoy the topic.

Jankowiak is amazing. His class made me think about so many things I never thought about. You can clearly tell he is passionate about what he studies. He knows so much that often he can go on tangents but I looked forward to his class every single day. He respects his students and truly cares about your opinion. Participate!! Tell him your opinion!

The books that are assigned are pertinent to the course. It does help if you read and listen to lectures to make the information more relevant and more intriguing in terms of the course. His lectures are recorded and they are actually interesting. The class is a bit challenging but he responds to emails rather quickly should you have any questions.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Jankowiak's class. I had to take this class as apart of my major, but is a foreign culture credit. 2 tests, midterm, final & a paper. Since it is online, you can go at your own pace - but he allows enough time for all lectures & books he requires for the class. I enjoyed the books provided, would take a class of his again.

This class was awful and I would not have passed had it not been for my class forming a study guide. The professor is so unorganized. The class had a hard time understanding his study guides and tests. You are required to read 6 books. You are graded on your midterm and final. The discussions are optional. The way he words things are tricky.

This online class was based on 2 tests, each around 80 majority true/false questions. EVERY SINGLE QUESTION on these tests was riddled with grammar and spelling errors!! Some questions were missing the noun that the question was based around, absolutely unprofessional. Deciphering the pigeon English tests made this class hard.

Class is all lecture and books, however the reading material is written by the professor himself and is horrifically uninteresting to try and read. Tests are heavy and based on information that you don't even really get in the books and or lectures. This class is not a interesting 101 nor is it easy.

There are only two assignments, your midterm and final. His lectures were all over the place, so it made it difficult to follow him, which also made the exams difficult. There's an extra credit paper that you can do and he'll add those points to the final. You do learn a lot though.

Super passionate about what he's teaching. His lectures are kind of unorganized and his topics jump from one to another. Constantly having class discussions and he uses a lot of personal experience in discussions. If you just listen to his stories, you'll pass the final. Theres only one paper and the final exam which are both super easy.

In my experience, Mr Jankowiak is a very knowledgeable professor and shows real concern for his students. He's not the most traditional and his teaching requires a lot of reading and jumping topic to topic, but he is always equipped with stories of his travels around the world and what he's learned from them, making him a professor like no other.

I do don't try to understand help you. Was that sentence tough to read? That's what this ENTIRE class is from start to finish! I understand, everyone makes spelling/grammar errors. But when people are paying for your services/teaching, you should use Spellcheck! Lecture heavy, unclear learning objectives, tons of books, and frustrating exams.

I wanted to like this class but I'm not sure what I just took. It's supposed to be an introl level class into Cultural Anthropology and yet I feel like I just listened to someone ramble on with no clear objective. The tests aren't hard but it would certainly help if someone could spell check the questions prior to the exam date. Oh.. and 6 books.

Don't be put off by him too much. Give him some time, if he's not your cup of tea. It helps to be aware of the topics in the class, however you don't have to be on top of everything. Reading the books does help with the essay and finals. He does give a lot of lectures, but discussions are between them also.

Unorganized, late, typos, and that's just the syllabus! His midterm, 86 True or False questions, was only difficult because of the ENORMOUS amount of spelling/grammatical errors. I would not recommend taking him for an online class. OH and be prepared to buy six, Yes SIX, books that are darn near impossible to find after week one.

This was the least organized online class that I have ever taken. There is NO clear direction provided, you have to figure it out on your own. The due dates were mismatched between the syllabus, WebCampus, and his emails which made it very confusing. When I finally found his video lectures it seemed like he would have been great in person. :(

I have taken 2 of Dr Jankowiak's classes and found them to be incredibly interesting based on the material. He is a bit difficult to follow at times, but you will do well in his class if you actually read the books and follow his lecture notes.

Was in a crunch for a class I needed to graduate and this was the only one that sounded mildly interesting that fit. He let me in even though it was full, and it was a great course! The books are interesting. Do the extra credit!! He adds it to your exam points and the exams are tough because the focus is everywhere.

Dr. J gives great lectures for a very interesting subject. I scored 100% on the paper - HOWEVER, his sample questions for the 2 exams are only MILDLY helpful. His exams are DIABOLICAL if you haven't read the book THOUROUGHLY. If you're only taking a couple of classes & have nothing but time to read, I highly recommend this class - if not, skip it.
