Fun class, difficult open note tests. Calls on students randomly, so be prepared to answer questions. A few easy assignments, but it was always interesting to do the research for this class.

Two exams are multiple choice with open books/notes. Study for the exams or you won't do well. Flashcards work well for the textbook definitions. Lectures overview the chapters, and be prepared for cold calling. The paper isn't difficult: 5-7 pages of an attorney interview or court proceeding. PowerPoint presentation on a current court case.

Don't take him. Open note/book test but they are not easy. 3 test, 1 paper that he grades so hard, and a final. He thinks he is always right. Class participation is big in class. He calls names off of the attendance sheet for questions, doesn't call on who raises their hands, and then gives everyone a low participation grade.

Took the class to fulfill my LEB req., & it was hard.I don't recommend it for people who aren't interested in a career in law.The tests were open book/notes, but were hard.This class turned me off from a career in law ever!He would just read off the powerpoints each class, w/some examples. He was an okay guy, but boring. Hope u r on his good side.

I took Dr. McDevitt for LEB during my Soph. year. It was the hardest but most rewarding class I've taken at SJU. If you can't read or prepare for classes - don't take him. I learned a lot from him.

Looks like the principle and acts like the principle from East Bound and Down. Nice guy mostly can be a prick sometimes. Open book and note tests but still arent easy at all. He'll call on almost every class so look out for that. class is ok overall

Just got back from his sabbatical & is trying some new things. If you value your teachers opinion of you and your participation grade, join his quality circle!! Loves to get student feedback after every test. The tests are a bit challenging but open book/note. Goes over cases in the class which are helpful. Must do an in the news report. Take him!

Great teacher! Too bad for the person under this post that reading is such a chore, they must have forgot they were in college and trying to learn. Phrases like "worse business teacher i have had at st joes," and "i dunno who hires this guys" show the quality of student who posted before this one. He was a terrible teacher. he probabaly was a good lawyer but cant teach. he takes attendace on some days. he takes attendance the way he teaches which is on some days. you wont be able to get an unless you read the material every day. i think he was probabaly the worse business teacher i have had at st joes. i dunno who hires this guys

Though a little to the left, McDevitt is a very nice guy and good teacher. Class consists of 2 involved projects, 2 tests, and a final. Doesn't take attendance and teaches interesting material from powerpoints every day. Tests are open notes/book, but can still be pretty difficult. This class was a very good experience, and I'd take it again.

Sometimes doesn't know what he's talking about and is somewhat disorganized. He basically just reads from the powerpoint during class, so it's a little boring, but it's not a hard class overall. Likes to put random people on the spot in class. Overall, a decent class.

All in all, an okay class and an okay teacher. He doesn't take attendance, but be prepared to be called on and marked absent in class if you aren't there. Tests are open book, but still really challenging... so you need to study. He knows his stuff, and expects his students to as well. If you take him, be prepared to work hard for your grade

This class blew. He talks so fast and doesn't even take time to breathe and yea its open book but don't let that fool you, you might as well memorize the whole book becuase he asks you all the questions that can only be found in the fine print and some that aren't even in the book, but that he thinks that you should know. very nice teacher...not an easy A, but getting an A isn't that hard..the class isnt as bad as everyone makes it out to be if you participate and actually study before the tests...the tests are open book so just familiarize yourself with the book before the tests...really interesting & smart man..i would recommend this teacher & class anyday
