He is the nicest most thoughtful man ever! By this, he was always willing to re-explain things that were difficult to understand. The books in the class were a bit tough to read but I learned to like them. He is very specific when it comes to writing papers. I would take another class from him if I could!

He is a great guy and super helpful but extremely difficult to understand. His (daily) handouts are often completely unorganized and confusing. When grading, he has a VERY specific idea of what he is looking for, not a general idea like most teachers

McDonough is super sweet and sincerely cares about what the students think/want. Really flexible. Read the notes and make note of what he talks about in the text. LOVES QUOTES in papers. Kind of scatter brained, his thought process is hard to follow. Clarifies tho, sometimes you need to ask. Easiest grader I've had. Read the text-base of class.

I love this little old man! He was amazing, took him for Faith and he is so fantastic. He does give out tons of handouts but those are super helpful in writing his papers. If you read and participate in class you will do just fine. He is also very personable and easy to meet with. He's one of those sit down for coffee and talk with kind of teachers

Gives blocks of typed notes - no grammar or sentence structure - and as long as you spew these notes/opinions back at him, you'll get a good grade. His hero was a loose woman from the Holocaust...and then he just gets creepier.

For the 1st time ratemyprof.com failed me. I took him because he had good reviews- but they were wrong! He IS a nice guy and DOES care about the students, but he needs to work on not being so confusing! He makes you read a ton, doesn?t explain why, you spend half the class trying to figure out what he?s saying. Has become my worst class- DON'T TAKE

This class will keep you thinking about really important issues. Regardless of what others may say, he does not force his opinion on others at all. He is very open minded and accepts whateve a person has to say. What some mispercieve as being forceful and opinionated is actually him just steering you along a deeper though path. He is amazing!

Too bad Dr. McDonough doesn't teach more grad classes as he is wasted on undergrads that aren't interested in theology. Don't take him if you aren't interested in expanding your mind and being respectfully challenged for your ideas if they aren't logically sound. I loved him because he challenged me to go places as never before. I wish he did mo

I hardly ever heard the stuff we learned in Bill's own words. He took quotes from our authors to explain what they were saying. His assignments are confusing and he doesn't want to hear your opinion on anything--his opinion is the only right one.

Bill is fantastic! He's such a friendly, warm-hearted guy, but he's also a great professor and knows his stuff. Be prepared to learn a lot about Etty Hillisum, because she's his *hero* and also be prepared to converse in lectures. He like discussion-based learning, so read and form your opinions.
