Oblitey is a very nice guy and attempts to make lectures enjoyable. He gives very little homework, but has a quiz almost every single class as a "warm-up". His test, midterm, and final are made up of the quiz questions, so its an easy A if you have a good memory.

I was initially going to minor in COSC, but this class alone made me re-evaluate what I wanted to study... And not in a good way! He's usually late to class, and occasionally keeps us late. He doesn't engage the class, his accent is barely comprehensible, and his handwriting is even worse. His quizzes are a nightmare, and his labs are a joke.

Quiz, quiz, quiz, quiz, quiz, and then exam. There is virtually NO time put into actually programming ANYTHING in Java. My advice, don't take him as a professor. If I wasn't taking 110 as a retake, I would have failed.

You can't understand anything he says. He moves on to the next chapter without any regard of whether anyone understood the topic or not.

Has a very thick accent that can be hard to understand at times. Does not explain concepts very well, just copies things out of his notes onto the board and then reads them. Deadlines aren't reasonable at all. Most universities wouldn't teach COBOL for a "Applied Computer Programming" course.

Oblitey is hard to understand from the start. He does not help in ways that a professor should. He has office hours but even then he does not offer the help that was needed for this course. Do not buy the book because it is a waste of money. I am so glad that I never have to take him again.

Did not like Dr. Oblitey the first class I had him as a professor.. but i was a careless freshman( I didn't like any of my professors at the time). The second class I had him as a professor, I realized he is one of the best teachers I ever had. He is very organized and taught me skills that I will use when I graduate. Highly recommend!

One of the worst professors I have ever taken. He writes on the board straight from the book then reads what he just wrote in a difficult to understand accent. The only reason he is teaching this class is because he used to be the head of the department and made this class required. Worst experience of my life.

Expect a quiz every day. He moves quickly but the quizzes definitely boost your grade. Make sure you show up for class. You can drop 1 quiz grade. If you miss any more quizzes, you get a 0. Pay attention and go to class and you should do fine.

I've taken Dr. Oblitey for 220 and 316. 220 consisted of him writing on the board the entire time and then giving a quiz with the exact wording as what he wrote on the board the next class period. 316 consisted of boring powerpoints which had nothing to do with homework or tests, homework and test questions were copied from the book. Easy A though

Oh, Dr. Oblitey. Where to begin? He doesn't help during office hours. He told me to make a friend during class and get help from them. If you *do* go to his office hours he just tells you your program looks fine and then won't accept it for submission later. And if you have a problem and ask, his response is "Then fix it."

Dr. Oblitey is the most caring and nicest professor I've had so far. He genuinely cares about his students and wants everyone to learn the material and get a good grade. I would definitely recommend anyone take his class.
