Comment:

His classes are incredibly time-consuming, and it seemed like the majority of the class burned out from all the reading by the end of it. But he's very passionate about history, and it reflects well on the entire class. If you can handle the workload you will get a ton out of taking one of his classes.

Make no mistake, Dr. Pickett's classes are very challenging and time-consuming, but, if you are dedicated, it is not impossible to do well in them. He usually makes himself available outside of class if ever need help with an assignment.

Dr. Pickett is both a great and bad teacher. He demands a lot of work for his courses, you’ll be putting in about 6 credits worth of work for a 4-credit class. The term paper is worth a huge part of the grade so his opinion of it matters. I really suggest getting him to read it multiple times.

Absolutely HATED the class. Way too much work, and can recall little to nothing specific about any of the machines we have disscussed. Text bored me to death, and required nightly assignments of sometimes 20 pgs or more. Will never ever take a course taught by him again. Even if you like the subject, I don't recommend taking anything he teaches

Class is hard as hell, but you will learn an incredible amount of info. Be prepared to work. I worked extremely hard for the class, earned a B, and would proudly take another Pickett class. Great Professor!

Too much emphasis on the paper. A draft was due something like 5th or 6th week and we didn't get it back until 10th week, not giving us enough time to edit it for the final copy. Apparently having an A test average didn't matter, my final grade ended up being what I got on the paper draft.
