Bill is incredibly intelligent, kind hearted, and loves what he does. He is an incredible educator and mentor. He responds to emails at any time of day and quickly too. He often sings for us. It's very cute. The class is very low key and an easy A.

He's a lovely man who cares deeply about all of his students. Sometimes I fear that some might take advantage of his goodwill, but on the whole he is a joy for anyone who loves to learn.

Bill is a fantastic professor. LOVES literature, and LOVES to share his LOVE with people who also LOVE literature. Tends to ramble in lecture (as he'll tell you himself), but it's never boring, always interesting. Flexibility in paper topics. Group conference needs more structure to work, but lecture is awesome. A sweet guy, big brain and heart.

Bill is the greatest man on the face of the planet. Despite not having much of an interest in "epic" literature, he made this the best class I took in my four years at SLC. One semester with this man is worth the price of the four years tuition alone

If you want a mentor and a friend, take a seminar with Bill. He takes an unbelievable amount of time for each student, and will respond to emails/cries for help any time of day or night. With papers, he is honest and thorough and critical, but deadlines are nonexistent--careful not to take advantage of that. Most passionate professor out there.

Bill is a very sweet man and a true Milton scholar. He loves, and is emotionally connected to, the material he teaches. However, I was always terrified he was going to break down or have a stroke because he seems so fragile. His lectures can be obnoxious because people tend to talk over him and slow the pace down. Take his seminars.

Bill walks around campus like a modern day Apostle exuding humility however scratch the surface, challenge his judgement and the humble exterior erodes leaving behind the hidden huge ego. His classes were often engaging. He is like the wizard of Oz-all illusion. Take the class but be forewarned don't disagree with him, it will hurt you in the end.

As my first year here at SLC, and having Bill as my don, I have to say he is the most wonderful guy I could think of. Always very nice and inviting, constantly appreciating, considering, and relating different insights on the texts. He's very passionate about the texts he teaches, and is always ready to give assistance in conference work.

Such a kind and gentle spirit! Very knowledgeable and passionate about his subject. You will probably see him get teary-eyed over some piece of writing at some point, which I find endearing. Makes really adorable jokes. Very helpful. High expectations coupled with great faith in students. Don't disappoint him; it just wouldn't be right.

Bill is one of the best teachers I ever had. Early morning class on a Friday, and I could never bear to miss one because I knew it'd be so damn interesting, and I'd had almost no interest in the subject before I started. He's insightful, intelligent, hilarious, and altogether fantastic. Take any classes you can get from him!!

The lectures were inspired and vigorous, and always geared toward drawing people in. He even went so far as to SING! Bill is amazing as a person and a professor. I would major in "The classes of Bill Schullenberger" if we had majors.
