He basically just tells a story the whole class. There are 3 test one of which is the NON comprehensible final. He spends time talking so much on one thing but it never ends up on the test. He doesn't teach out of the book but he'll sure put stuff from the book on the test. Made F's on 1st test C on final and he gave me a C, she's not that bad.

Incredible professor! His personal stories are enough to keep the class interesting. He comes to class with nothing in his hands and just starts lecturing. His lectures seem to all come from the top of his head and are all interesting. The lectures are set up like stories and I couldn't wait to hear what he had to say next.Write down stuff on board

I love, love and love Dr, Welch. he is the best history teacher EVER! I'm a grad student now but when and he is the best teacher I've ever had, grad as well as undergrad. I highly recommend him. He makes learning history fun. He told wonderful stories in class that made me want to go home and read more just to find out what would happen next.

I really enjoyed the class. His personal tales alone are reason enough to take one of his classes. He is pleasant and well-spoken, unquestionably educated and funny. It is clear he loves teaching and is absolutely in love with history.

Take him. He's laid back and doesn't make it seem like a lecture. He talks the whole class, but he makes it sound like he's telling you a story before you go to bed. Very cool guy and one of my favorite teachers.

I took him for Honors Western Civ I and II. Dr. Welch is the bomb. One of the best professors at Troy. Extremely interesting and entertaining to listen to. His tests are semi-difficult, but very fair. If he writes it on the board, highlight it in your notes, because it's a candidate for his fill-in-the-blank test section. Highly recommend him.

Best professor I had during my 4 years at Troy University. All others should take note. His lectures are fantastic and he doesn't worry about giving a lot of fluff work. You have two or three grades-midterm & final & maybe a paper. If you just go to class and study your notes you should do well. Do not miss the chance to take a real college course!

I love him!!I'm not really a history fan, but he cracks me up. He has a very dry sense of humor. He covers alot of material but the tests are pretty easy. I am really enjoying the class.
