I didn't really see the point of this class. Dr. Cupples is super nice and a great teacher but the material is so dry. There is one big paper, a literature review. He grades them pretty easy. You do have to study for his exams. As a graduate advisor, he is very difficult to get a hold of and takes a long time to respond to emails.

Dr. Cupples was the worst professor I've ever had in my 3 years at Eastern. He rambles in his lectures and does not properly prepare you for exams. His grading is inconsistent, and he doesn't follow his own rules for grading on tests. Other students would write down the same answer as me and get it correct, while I would get it wrong.

As a professor, he knows his material. Very tough and not particularly fair. If he doesn't like you, he will find a way to give you a lower grade. As a graduate advisor, if you have any weaknesses he will give you little help dealing with them. If you get him as your advisor, better hope you are ready to be a top-notch clinician off the bat.

He is very knowledgeable but I felt as though I did not learn much. I especially felt unprepared for his exams. Make sure to always look at articles that have what he is asking you to find as he will not always give you an article with an example. Read between the lines and put any information you can find on the exams. Also watch your lit review.

I've had this professor for two courses now and he is great! Extremely knowledgable and excited to teach. Go to class, take notes, study, and you will receive an A. Overall, great professor.

Dr. Cupples is not only a great speech pathologist but he is an excellent teacher! He's really good at getting concepts into your head by reviewing them over and over in class. If you read the chapters and answer the questions in the back of them, you will do great! It is easy to get an A IF you do the work for it. I think he is an amazing person!

Dr Cupples is somewhat stern, I think his demeanor partly stems from his southern ways and strict church upbringing. Overall, he is very knowledgeable, but don't expect to walk into his class late and throw out apologies, as he simply stare at you through the window and won't allow you to enter.

stutterin class was very intense. He is very intimidating when it comes 2 the speech program. However, because he is that way should force u 2 stay on top of the material & caught up. If u do, then u will be fine. He had some really rude or intense moments in class, that ur like wtf? Good teacher, understanding, most organized prof. in SPSI program

I've had Professor Cupples for two classes now, and I've loved both of them. He's very knowledgeable and passionate about issues in speech and language pathology. He is very clear and organized. Go to class, ask questions, and enjoy him! He teaches in a very calm, enjoyable way.

Excellent teacher-given lots of challenging students, handled situations well!!! expectations are high and very clear...helps to prepare you for the "real world"...not the bubble you are in while in college. very perceptive and definitely knows his stuff well, as long as you have a level a maturity that you should have in college, you'll do well.

He's a pretty rigid prof, doesn't allow much room for discussion regarding grades, intimidating, sometimes makes you not want to ask questions. He definitely knows his stuff and you will definitely learn a lot from him, if you can just work around his hard demeanor. Seems to have "favorites."
