I loved having him as a professor. His hearing isn't very good which makes participating difficult but he is very nice and seemed to take an interest in everyone in the class. He is very knowledgeable and engaged the class. I don't know how much longer he will be teaching for but if taking this course he is the prof to have.

Prof Ahrens is very nice and helpful! He was also my TA and was always approachable and understanding! Going to tutorials and lectures is very important in order to do good on the tests! It was an easy HUMA class in terms of the workload! 2 essays and 4 tests!

Aherns class is easy if you attend lecture and tutorial. Test material is in class handouts and he takes time to field any questions you might have during tutorial. I found him to be interesting, approachable and he seems to have a vested interest in helping the student understand how unique german culture is. Best prof I have had so far- 3rd year!

Nice and funny prof. He's lectures are unorganized and at times boring and his handouts terrible. DOn't miss any class, otherwise you won't understand anything from his notes. Plus, there's no webct. Tests kind of hard but if you study you'll be fine. Probably better at teaching German than about Germany. He's not a bad prof though.

this guy is soooo cute and soooo sweet!! I HATED the class, complitely uninteresting to me, but he really helped me a lot in many other areas... Very willing to help and VERY understanding...he's cool!!! and he KNOWS his stuff man!

Prof. Ahrens is I think the best teacher I have ever have. He has a great sense of humor and is extremely intelligent in what he teaches. It's a shame he is retiring next year. If you can take a class with him, do it, you'll learn a lot and have fun doing it.
