Comment:

Professor Murphy's class is challenging, however you will get what you work for. He is always available outside of class to help students, however if you don't try good luck passing. Going to his office hours definitely helped. Professor Murphy is very nice person all around- he really wants to see his students excel. I would definitely take again.

Dr. Murphy is one of the most helpful professors in the Chemistry department. He not only helps you with the material, but also with planning your classes and options for the future. He is extremely approachable. Although his class can get a little boring, as long as you pay attention and study the practice tests you can get an A!

I took his summer CHEM II class and although the material was difficult and complicated, Murphy was more than willing to answer all of my questions and help me further understand everything. He provided plenty of practice problems that were similar to the tests and explained key concepts in detail. he also had review sessions for us.

He is a nice guy but he gets sidetracked easily. I took him in the summer and its basically like teaching yourself. However, he puts all the stuff from last year on blackboard and the tests that he gives are similar or exact to that. He teaches nothing in the first half of class and crams everything in the last weeks. He does curve high tho.

Dr. Murphy is one of the nicest professors that I have had at SHU. He is always willing to answer questions and might even postpone a test or quiz if the class doesnt understand the material. Pay close attention to the problem sets he works, that is what will be on the test. THe lectures are kind of irrelevant but some of his tangents are fun.

True, Dr. Murphy will strike undergraduates as *beep*, but he is Einstein to graduate students. He's a brilliant man. He'll teach you shortcuts, hints, and tricks that you won't necessarily understand but will later. Just do what he says even if you don't get it. You'll get A's without studying at all.
