Comment:
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He took forever to get grades back and his class is extremely uninteresting. I am an archaeology major and I still found this class unbearable. His monotone lecturing mixed with his accent made it hard to learn anything and he put way too much on the slides to even take notes. His expectations of course work were also unfair

Really slow on getting grades back. Some students have never received a grade on a single assignment. Hard to know what to do or if you're on the right track because of this. Lectures were boring even though material was exciting.

Really interesting class and materials. Instead of giving us a final, he let us to write a 8-10 pages paper on one of the topics which is discussed during the term. Take this course.

Prof Jung's disorganized state alone made this class thoroughly unenjoyable for me. While the readings were interesting, for every lecture, all he did was read directly from slides. Felt I didn't learn much from him personally. Our take home (30%) required less writing than our presentation "summary" (10-12 pages) worth 10%. Take something else.

Jing is absolutely an expert in his field, and for that I uphold very high respect. When he gets to topics he likes, you can see the pain. However, I have not received a single grade from his class. Even though finals have been over and all my other classes have submitted final grades, I haven't any grades from 322. Worries me.

Super disorganized! Still haven't received any marks. Got a take-home final which he wanted us to upload to Connect but the submission section for it disappeared 5 days before it's due date. Although he obviously likes the material he does not inspire you to want to learn more about it. Very boring and difficult to understand. Don't take his class.

He is such a wonderful teacher; he is so enthusiastic and always wants to help students understand concepts by using real-life examples and by offering extra help at labs, etc. He is so nice and you can tell he really cares about you.

I went to China with Dr.Jing. There were some troubles in the beginning but it all worked out well in the end. He marks fairly and while it was kinda tough to do everything in time, I feel like I accomplished a lot despite being there for only 1.5 months. He really cares about his students and the learning experience overall. It was so worth it.

I think you will either love or resent this prof. Knows his stuff but was usually unprepared to lecture. Study HARD at home and be ready to get a very low mark! The final was stupendously hard despite being a take-home. Boo. Hiss.

Dr. Jing is passionate, funny (!!) but rather disorganized and rushed. No marking of assignments, presentations or papers was done till AFTER our final. Very disappointing!! Basically killed our GPAs (with avg. of 67% overall). Squashed my interest in China and archaeology :(

There was way too much course material to cover and it really had an impact on his teaching ability. Sometimes had difficulty communicating ideas effectively.

In my experience, Professor Jing is very helpful and easy-going. The main problem I had with this course was that there was always too much covered in each lecture, and TA I had didn't have enough knowledge about lectured subjects.

I generally don't like any theory course, but I do find this course interesting. Prof. Jing does a very good job presenting diverse perspectives in archaeological theory. No question he has his own preference. Also he is really funny and easy-going.

Professor Jing is a very nice guy. He always wanted his sutdents to do well in the class. He used a lot of interesting case studies to demonstrate how archaeological methoods were used to investigate many questions about the past.
