Dr. Herrera is amazing and probably one of the most understanding professors I've ever had. She will work with you on whatever problems you are having. Her class was discussion based and there were no tests, but responses due each week based on the readings (no more than 1-2 pages) and two papers. Definitely would take other classes with her!

Herrera is an excellent professor, I had her for Intro Race & Gender and just had to take another class taught by her before I graduate. Very knowledgeable. A majority of class time is spent in open discussion, which in my opinion really allows for some great lectures. Herrera really knows what she is talking about, and she will inspire you.

Dr. Herrera is a wonderful teacher. She is engaging, kind, loves teaching, and really cares about what her students have to say. If you are struggling with an assignment or feeling stressed she will give you guidance and work with you to make the work more manageable. If you put in effort into her class you will get an A.

Andrea is a dear. Kind to her students, passionate about her subject. The class was rough for me, though. Lots and lots of reading, twice a week, with a short critical analysis paper for each reading. The discussions seemed to involve everyone getting on a pedestal, off topic often. Having it 2x/wk ~1 hour was annoying, too. UCCS should change that

I was so frustrated by the section of the class taught by Professor Herrera. She assumed we all understood art and there was no established structure to the time spent in class. I learned nothing I did not already know or have to research on my own for her class.

Dr. Herrera is one of the best teachers I've had. She makes classes so interactive and fun. She always has great presentations, lectures and speakers. She tries very hard to make her students happy. She is so brilliant and yet you feel so comfortable talking to her. She does not act like she is smarter than anyone. She is AWESOME!
