Comment:

Dr. Chiweshe is one of my favorite professors at Oneonta. She can be tough but she does it for you to make you a better student. Taking her design courses is difficult and you should be prepared to work outside of class. Overall i learned so much from her in just one semester and she taught me to accept nothing less than perfection from myself.

Moves at a fast pace regardless of the skill level of the students in the class. She seemed to not really understand the material herself and would have us wait in class until she figured out how to use the program.

Assigns work then questions when things are due. Tests are ridiculous: multiple choice but with 5 options and two of those options are all of the above or none of the above. You really have to know all of the material. She posts powerpoint notes online after the lecture and goes through so fast that you can barely write any information down.

This course truly allows students the freedom to be creative. Dr. Chiweshe encourages students to work on garments outside of class, but gives extremely honest and effective feedback. She has an incredible eye for design, as well as high quality, and will not let you settle for less. She inspires me to work towards perfecting my craft.

Dr. Chiweshe encourages students to work as quickly and efficiently as possible. This can be stressful at times, however her intentions are to prepare students for the fashion industry. I have had the pleasure of taking many courses with Dr. Chiweshe and I have the utmost respect for her.

Dr. Chiweshe gives clear instructions when teaching students how to use design computer programs. She integrates lectures with the design assignments in order to merge fashion design with merchandizing aspects. She teaches how to design for clients and plan retail stores, while also giving you the freedom to be creative. She is a great professor.

This was the first fashion course that I took at Oneonta and it was fascinating. Dr. Chiweshe's knowledge of the course material is vast and she teaches it very well. She uses many photographs to compliment her lectures which is extremely helpful. I enjoyed this taking this course.

very sweet woman, she pushes you hard and goes very fast but explains that its for our benefit. I definitely benefited from the way she teaches and she has always pushed me to do my best. Love having her as a professor!!

She seems tough but she is actually very nice and always willing to help. I had her for draping and she does move very fast but she will give extra time for assignments and help with what ever you may need. You do have to work for your grade.

She always asks us when things are due, yet she assigns them. She's not clear on assignments but isn't a very tough grader. She moves quickly and it can be stressful because sometimes you don't know what she's trying to get at. Made my mother email her to prove I missed class due to a funeral. She's well respected but the class stressed me out.

She is an awful teacher. She gets stressed out and can't handle helping a student. She is so confused about everything and asks the class when the tests are or when something SHE assigned is due. This class made me so miserable. She thinks that group projects are the best thing ever, but in college they are NOT. The worst class and teacher by far

She starts class before it's even is suppose to begin. It's a high stress fast paced class , so you better come ready to work. With that being said you will leave at the end of the semester comfortable with your capability, and competentcy about basic draping.

The class as a whole was a very good learning experience. Dr. Chiweshe prepares her students for almost any garments they may produce in the future. My only issue is that she was very worried about time. I wish that we spent more time learning how to drape and properly fit pieces instead of spending almost half of the semester working on the final

Dr. Chiweshe is the most efficient professor. Her classes are not easy, nor do I expect them to be, because she encourages us to push ourselves to be the best and she gets us to strive to create high quality work that would be accepted in the real world. Her expectations and instructions are clear and concise, as well as her grading rubric.

I took an independent study with her and it was both extremely difficult but probably the best class I've had. She gives you free range over what you're creating, just so long as it's good! She's also extraordinarily encouraging and will go above and beyond to get you attention! I could never thank her enough for her dedication!

This class is very fast paced but totally worth it! You'll probably learn more about sewing here than in Fash 121 as well because of the final project!
