Comment:
He is quiet and speaks in a monotone - it's true. But he's also a really thoughtful and pleasant person who does eventually warm up. I'd imagine he's better in a smaller class than a large lecture. Gives help if you ask. Definitely sit in for a class before committing yourself, though.

Monotone doesnt do justice to the bland, uninterested tone you will be subjected to for an entire semester. Two cups of coffee, chewing multiple mints and pinching myself unnaturally hard all failed to keep me awake. If you like being bored, hes your guy. Probably a great guy though.

The primary trouble with a subject such as creative writing, particularly poetry, is when the class falls into the trap of an emotional AA meeting. Walton's poetry class, for me at least, did. Furthermore the directionlessness of his lecturing did not contribute anything more to our writing than fog

Comment:
Walton is rather odd, and serious, but he's one of the most intelligent professors on campus. In the beginning he can be rather distant, but over the course of the semester he'll really open up, and he might even make a joke once or twice! I'd definitely recommend his class, he was awesome.
