Comment:
Dr. Plotnitsky does NOT lecture in a comprehensive way-- rambles about unrelated things. Does not give in depth information about assigned readings, only his personal thoughts. I understand that literary theory is mostly philosophy, but I couldn't tell you one thing I learned about literary analysis or criticism or theory from him.

A very easy class. He grading is very kind and generous. Basically as long as you turn everything in you will pass, showing up helps but isn't mandatory. However, I don't think I learned anything in this class.

He is very bright, but it is hard to understand his accent and where he is even going with is lectures. He doesn't allow much discussion and just talks at you with very unclear and sometimes very unrelated topics. If you write well you will get a good grade. I really didn't learn much at all.

He is extremely brilliant but I'm not sure what I learned in the class in regards to English. He mainly taught philosophy and politics, it was actually kind of annoying. But if you pay attention and keep up with the reading then you can write good papers. It is also interesting to hear him lecture because it seems like he knows everything.

Literary theory is more often than not based in philosophy...duh. Plotnitsky knows his stuff and is able to teach it in a way that makes it fun to learn.

He taught me absolutely nothing. We were supposed to learn about types of literary criticism, but he didn't bother teaching us that. We spent more time learning philosophy than any literary theory.
