Comment:

Seriously, do not take this class if you don't have to. Unless you have prior experience or really want to know programming don't waste your time. Take CS140 instead since this is a VERY hard class. He isn't the greatest teacher, but he isn't that bad. The class itself is what is horrible. He is very picky about what he likes and doesn't like.

He has you do programs and with each program you have to take a quiz. The questions on the quizzes are not clear at all, and sometimes cause you to get less than 50% even if the program was 100% correct. Also, he doesn't do the greatest job with clarifying in class what he say doesn't always match the book or the T.A. that helps with programs.

CS140 is MUCH easier and can be taken instead of CS145 in most cases; ask your councelor to save yourself from this teacher and the difficulty of this class. Quizzes are difficult because the questions are worded very poorly. The average on the midterm in our class was a 61%, the class high being 84%. Look for a different teacher/class.

If possible, take cs 140. 145 is a waste of time that will frustrate you and make you hate programming with a passion. Teacher has called students dumb and he doesn't even know how to use a computer. Please avoid him.

Databases are his specialty? He didn't seem to know anything about them in this course. I didn't actually learn anything other than how to use Oracle 8i, and I could've just as easily done that with an online user's guide in a week.

This guy teaches alot of classes and his style is terrible, he's a powerpoint teacher who copies right out of the book, he plays favorites with his students and honestly is just not an easy teacher to get along with...
