Comment:

I've taken several classes with Dr. Mann and enjoyed all of them. Talking with her after class to get feedback on potential paper/project topics goes a long way-- both because she gives quality feedback and because she becomes invested in your idea, which helps with the grade. She's worth paying attention to as she's world renown for her work.

Comment:

This class was terrible. It was terribly boring, she literally talked the entire time!!! She is an interesting character... she is very opinionated on some topics and gets those opinions across very clearly. It was very minimal work but she is just someone who I found myself rolling my eyes at in class at the things she says.

Super nice lady, very interesting class. She is a very hard grader, could not get higher than a C on any of my papers/discussion posts. She gave me an extra credit opportunity cause she knew I was trying. Just show her you care and participate and be a good writer.

Dr. Mann is an awesome professor! She gives great feedback on all of her papers, and will make you a better writer no doubt. Many students complain that her grading is way too difficult, but it's really not that bad. Great professor, highly encourage you to take her! Also, tons of extra credit opportunities if you end up doing bad on a paper!

The topic was interesting but class was boring. She used PowerPoint presentations and there was very little class discussion involved. Also, she was not very clear about what she expected for assignments, and took points off of assignments/blogs with no explanation. She's open to meeting with students outside of class, which does help a little bit.

I absolutely dreaded going to this class twice a week. There were barely any discussions in class, it was just her speaking with a slideshow that did not keep anyone's attention and was not posted later for weekly essays. Takes off points just bc she can and does not let people disagree with her. Worst class I've had so far.

Dr. Mann is an extremely tough grader. From talking to peopler in other HON1010 classes, this was the only class it wasn't easy to get an A in. She tears apart weekly discussion posts. What I did like about her though was she led great class discussion over interesting topics. While it was not easy, every class was interesting.

Dr. Mann is an incredibly tough grader, as has been stated many times. However, she really challenges you and makes you work for your 'A.' I found this course incredibly interesting, but she really did make me a better writer! Also, she was very nice.

Not the best professor, but far from the worst. A bit intimidating at first, but really not bad-spirited at all. Quite conservative when it comes to grammar. Imparts some useful lessons on professionalism. Semiweekly reading/writing assignments through a forum, and two big papers/presentations. Some interesting topics to be discussed. No exam.

Dr Mann is a great professor because she is an extremely knowledgable woman. Many people dislike her class because of controversial/uncomfortable topics but I really enjoyed that aspect of her class. Be prepared to think. Also, the class is a decent amount of work but it is never tedious work. She is a harsh grader, but it has made me better.

I had a multicultural lit class with Doctor Mann. She makes A LOT of notes on papers (some of which I'm dont think are accurate) she can be a pretty harsh grader. The lit class became more of a history class with her, but they go hand in hand. She was a bit condescending at times, and very tedious but she was also fairly nice and very understanding

TOUGH grader. English is one of my stronger suits and she rips apart all of my work. impossible to please and docks grades for the most pointless things. I do however see the subject matter being useful later on in "real life"

Go to her class, it may seem boring, but in the long run it will be worth while. The notes she gives in class are the only ones she gives, and she usually gives out quizzes randomly, so go to class everyday. The stuff you learn in class will truly pay off, even if it seems like a real pain now, and she's a cool teacher most of the time.

Very hard grader. Rambles on about Native American history. Impossible to satisfy with assignments. She accused me of plagerism for no reason and when my papers were returned she wrote nasty degrading comments on it.

Comment:

She basically sucks huge chuncks. This is not an English class--ts a history course. The entire time you speak about Native American History. Its terrible, not that there is anything wrong with Native Americans, just that I thought we were taking an English course.
