I'm sorry but I don't think anyone should ever have to take Elgersma. He communicates in ways that are not appropriate and he kicks students out for not finish an assignment(even if it's mostly done).He doesn't work with students who are disabled in any way, and he refused to help me once. His grading is also unfair(I don't mind hard but not unfair

I am surprised Elgersma has such a great rating because of how difficult he is. The whole class failed the first essay in the class I took with him. After getting to know him and going into his office to ask him questions, the class was a lot better (but still one of the most challenging classes I had to take as a chemistry major). Overall good.

Favorite professor ever. Isn't afraid to say what he thinks - hilariously cynical. He will scare the crap out of you the first day (or three), but don't drop the class. Tough grader, but it's not impossible to get A's if you put genuine effort into it and follow his corrections. CORE 180 has lots of reading but only a few papers. AND PARTICIPATE!!!

He is a wonderful teacher, challenging but how else do you learn if not challenged? He requires a lot of papers, but really helps studnets improve their writing. Pretends to be tougher than he is, once you get to know him, you'll love him!

Elgersma is the best teacher on campus. He is probably also the hardest, but his class is great fun, and he has the best personality. Take him as often as you can.
