The class is pretty boring, but not difficult. You absolutely need the textbook and the workbook. No real homework assignments beyond a chapter of the workbook due before each test, but you need to study. She tells you what is on each test and they are pretty easy.

Just because you can speak a language does not mean you can teach it well!! Teaches 100% straight from the textbook. Tests are straight from the text book and super easy as long as you study exactly what she tells you. Boring and uninteractive for an intro course. If you truly want to learn the language you will have to work hard outside of class.

I've had her twice and I love her! It's a conversation class. Every two weeks there's a paper, but you get the chance to correct errors. You come in with controversial topics and you just discuss different ones the entire class. She has a great sense of humor, very German. She does favor her german students a little bit.

This class isn't bad at all. However the prof is very confusing and disorganized. Tough grader too. Just make sure you catch every single word she says because the tests are highly specific. I missed one day of class and it really affected my grade.

I really enjoyed this class and would definitely recommend it if you are interested in German or need a dec d. no textbook, home works are a weekly film review sheet that is easy to fill out, tests are a little difficult but not too bad, and there is only one 5 pg paper. take this class!

she is kind of an angel. she often gets happy and laughs almost like a teenage girl. very fun class. she is very thorough with telling her students what she wants and is in to teaching and helping. All you need to do is be enthusiastic, try and ask. she doesn't make an ass of you when you make mistakes forming sentences. textbook highly required.

The class is not useless. I actually learned a lot about Germany and everything is really interesting. The best part is that there is no textbook and the exams are extremely easy. All the powerpoint presentations are always online so people just go for attendance in the beginning and leave.

Professor Viola is hands down one of the best people to have introduce you to the German language. She encourages peer-to-peer exercises as well as more Socratic questioning methods - the best ways to learn. You wont be dissapointed, sehr gut!

She is very German. Which is kinda cool. She's really funny if you understand German well, but if you don't she doesn't knock it. She pushes you to keep speaking German even if you sound retarded because it helps to just speak it. She's really laid back and doesn't give you a hard time about work. Do your part and she gives you an A.
