Comment:

Dr. Akin is a cool person. He has so much experience and has a lot of knowledge to share. He doesn't teach to the textbook but that's where all the tests come from. There was very little direction on a huge group project. There were multiple times he gave us tests with material on them we did not cover in class. The class was frustrating.

Dr. Akin is a nice guy but talks a lot about personal stories in class and does not teach the material much but attendance is mandatory. I had to read the text book to teach myself. Tests weren't too though.

Bob Akin is one of the best men I have ever met. He is genuine, kind, and an amazing professor. His tests are hard. I am not going to lie and perhaps I would advise you not to take this class if you are looking for an A. The point is though, he teaches you SO much more than what you need to get an A. He is teaching you about life after graduation.

Take everything he says about the real world with a grain of salt, he said CEOs would rather hire TCU grads over Harvard grads during multiple times throughout the course. Studying was pointless because everything on the test he has never talked about. Convinced he doesn't grade the exams because I received the same grade for all 4 exams.

Terrible Professor and he admits as much to his students. Most of the information he gives in class is wrong and/or outdated. Not only did I not learn anything, but my grade took a hit because Akin makes his tests unnecessarily difficult/confusing while also not covering any of the material in class. Total hypocrite. Do not take.

Akin is a great man, he has a lot of interesting stories. However, these stories are not related to the course material necessarily. He gives lectures on the material but it doesn't help for the tests. Tests are pretty difficult. Pop quizzes. Allows notecards for both quizzes and tests

Akin give you the opportunity to prepare yourself for the real world. He brings in outside professionals that give you insight in the business world. If you go to class, you're fine. If you have a problem in the class, go in and talk to him, as he is very understanding and will help you if you need it. Bad ass speakers in this class too.

Dr. Akin was in the process of getting his second doctorate this semester and that was clearly his first priority. There was little to no effort put into the class. He was constantly tired and cranky because he was so invested in his dissertation. Maybe once he is done he will put some effort back in, but this semester was very disappointing.

Akin is the man. All these negative posts below are a little dramatic. He is entertaining, which is a breath of fresh air. He doesn't lecture straight out of the book because a book of information is not going to make you successful. He tells stories because REAL successful people learn thru emulating OTHER successful people, which Akin IS.

Akin is hilarious. He believes that the best thing to teach is experience, not things out of the textbook. That being said, all of his tests come from the textbook, so you're basically teaching yourself. You get a notecard on all exams though, and he will give extra credit and curve the exams like crazy. It's a fun class, just read the book.

Very good lectures and a simple group project. Very enjoyable class and teaches you a lot. 'very specific in project guidelines but will meet with you and tell you exactly what to do. Only complaint is that tests are tricky. He did give a ten point curve on three of them though.

I like Akin; he's funny and approachable. But as my teacher? Ever since The Great Cheating Scandal of 2014, he hasn't put in much effort. He tells personal stories and jokes during class instead of lecturing. If you're looking for a grown up frat daddy who will be your friend, take Akin. If you want a professor to teach you, look elsewhere.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I was very excited about taking this class and although Akin is very hilarious, his class is TERRIBLE! Professor Akin is awesome! Class is always enjoyable and you can tell he loves his job. He is one of my favorite professors at TCU. He is one of those professors that wants to get to know his students and is always available to help. In class he tells stories, talks about real life marketing experiences, and tries to make class fun. Take him!

Worst professor i've ever had. He will manipulate you entirely all semester long. Lectures are completely unrelated to class and book, tests are completely different than he describes, and will claim to give extra credit out purposely knowing he won't. However, if your an athlete or sorority chick, your covered. Take him. If not avoid at all cost.

Professor Akin is hands down my favorite professor at TCU and the mean comments are coming from people who didn't try, were required to take his class, or were looking for a blowoff class. If you actually care about marketing, take him. He may not be the easiest professor, but he genuinely cares about you and wants to be engaged and participate.
