Professor Zelnick is a very knowledgable person and experienced in this field. Nice guy, great humor. BUT - readings are long, only mildly interesting. It's impossible to pay attention in lecture. The class could be surmised to a list of case files you need to memorize in their entirety. HUNDREDS of case files. Tests are mind-numbingly hard.

Wow, Mr. "Did Not Learn Anything," it makes me sick to hear you say that. I learned a lot in this class. Zelnick is so accommodating and kind to students outside class. Plus he has a great sense of humor. This class gave me an appreciation of the history and law of our field. BTW- I found his war stories fascinating.

Did not learn anything about modern ethics in journalism. What he taught us was completely irrelevant in today's world. He spent wayyy to much time talking about wars that had no meaning to ethics in journalism. Exams were very difficult and he was so unaccommodating to simple requests. Never responds to emails. Avoid this teacher.

Prof Zelnick is fantastic. Those giving him poor ratings have obviously done poorly in the class.I have zero interest in law, didn't read the book, and got an A-. Absolute Favorite Professor at BU. He will like you if you actually try and if you have real opinions. I don't understand how anyone does poorly in this class.

Whoever said Zelnick grades based on his conservative views is wrong. I wrote my term paper on a political subject. i am a hardcore liberal. we even argued for 10 mins during my presentation - & he gave me an A. He is my favorite professor thus far & has truly made an impact on my education. Also, he happens to be incredibly kind. TAKE HIS CLASS!

Although Zelnick is an established professor, he is probably way too old to still be teaching. Lectures were unorganized and biased by his conservative opinion, and he could never complete a full thought, and constantly messed up important info. Grading of exams seemed to be completely arbitrary.

i really loved zelnick anddd i think youd be a fool not to love him. the only reason for someone to not do well in zelnicks class is if you dont listen or take notes, or go at all. as long as you go and show an interest, you will do well. do not be discouraged by others comments... hes a true, special professor.

this is the most poorly organized class i have ever taken at BU. zelnick and his daughter are an awful professor/TA tagteam, they give assignments but are unclear about expectations. eva (his daughter, the "TA" never responds to e-mails with questions about assignments or the class. zelnick is a good guy with a great career, but an awful professor.

I think it says it all that the person who hated Zelnick still gave him 3s. He is amazing and hilarious. I've interviewed him for other class projects at least twice since the course just as an excuse to talk to him again.

Professor Zelnick is the best professor that I have had at BU. He is really funny and personable. He has had one of the most interesting careers and has lots of advice to offer students serious about journalism. I love him and would definitely take his class. He is extremely smart and his stories make classes interesting.

Professor certainly knows a great deal about the coursework. Adds interesting stories of personal experience into the mix. Course demands a lot of students, but Professor is a very reasonable grader. Would recommend course to those interesting in the subject.

The material is important, but you don't learn it in class - he just rambles about his journalistic past. While its interesting, it doesn't help you learn. It's up to you to read a lot and learn the material on your own. Tests were nearly impossible.
