A really nice guy but a really bad prof. Every problem was reinventing the wheel to the point that even simple problems made the majority of the class feel completely inadequate.

Craver is ridiculously hard. He expects you to have PhD knowledge of physics on day one. Expect hard pop quizzes and tests. Tests are all theory and suck. Would not recommend him even to save my life. Please, PLEASE do not take him!

Craver, while I am sure he is a nice person, is a terrible teacher. I had the unfortunate privilege of having him for Physics of Waves. He does not explain concepts well, and does not provide example questions on the board in class. He teaches all theory, but his tests are all mathematical problems. Poor teacher, avoid at all costs.

Comment:
Professor Craver is a nice guy, however during every lecture this year it takes around 45 minutes just to get through one problem. After going over that said problem many students in the class are still confused because he has not shown a definitive way of how to get the answer. I have spent at least 8 hours studying for each test which was useless

Craver is a nice guy. His teaching style doesn't really fit the course he's teaching. I studied two nights before a test and received a 69% and it was well above the class average. He wants you to think about how you're solving the problem but he more or less makes you feel like you're incapable and you still don't know how to solve the problem.

Horrible. Likes to lecture about how horrible the class does on test and how disappointing we are. He makes test like were all physics majors for a general physics class. no one is a physics majors in the class. no notes or structure to class. waste of time to take him.

Comment:
I took Craver for Physics 190 as a gen ed requirement. He is smart and a cool guy outside of class but he will become unnecessarily condescending if the class does not participate to the fullest extent. I understood his frustration when no one would answer a question but he comes down way too harsh. Also does not post grades online very often.

Craver is a very good teacher. He is interested in how well you do in the class and really tries to make the class interesting . His tests on the other hand are extremely difficult, by no means an easy A. I recommend him, but get ready to do a lot of outside work and do not wait to get help

Very nice guy but a very poor teacher. When you needed help he was there for you but his help was all over the place. I would recommend the course but take it with a different professor.

Professor Craver is a nice, but I agree with other comments, his political and environmental views have no place in physics. If you are not willing to read the textbook and go to the review sessions with the TAs then I would avoid this particular course. 3 exams and pop quizzes randomly; I currently have a C+ and am hoping to pull a B.

Shows some enthusiasm but he is an absolutely terrible professor. Tests are nothing like homework or class discussions. He often ends up getting off topic. Gives pop quizzes to check on attendance

Craver is the WORST professor I have ever had. His teaching is nonsense and doesn't have anything to do with physics. He wastes everyone's time and energy for talking about useless, boring, unproductive, random topics that no one cares about. Talking about politics, about how students are educated, about US oil consumption, is TOTAL crap. AVOID HIM

Dr. Craver is a nice man but an awful teacher. His lectures and discussions are about global climate change rather than physics making it so you have to rely on the book and TA run review sessions. If you are unfortunate enough to get stuck taking his class the Khan Academy videos and videos with the book are incredibly helpful.

Avoid this professor at all costs. All he talks about is global warming and energy, a topic that is irrelevant to this class. He gets extremely angry when people don't show an interest in the class and lectures - it's a huge waste of time. If at all possible, take another professor.

I would avoid taking him if possible. Bases most classes off of his political standings and tests us on them. Unclear about when assignments are due. Gets mad at students and tells us how we won't go anywhere in the future. Pop quizzes everyday but he lets you work together. It is possible to do well, but I would try to get another professor.

Very frustrating class. He is a political man who loves to ramble about a lot of nonsense. Gives pop quizzes daily, is very confusing on when homework, tests, projects are due. Emails important information very last minute. I will say he can be a little more understanding one - on - one. Take only if you have to, not a teacher worth your investment

Worst teacher I have had in college thus far. Degrades students in the class for not asking questions and also for asking them. He will rarely Go through an entire problem on the board and leave them all for you to conclude on your own. Gives pop quizzes to ensure you're in attendance. I hate that I payed thousands of dollars for his "teachings".

Worst professor I've ever had. He disrespected all students, called us immature, even screaming at us at one point to "leave and don't bother coming back." If a question was asked he assumed we were stupid for asking in the first place. Spent about half of every class lecturing about global warming, which had no course significance.
