Even though he doesn't take attendance if you want to pass you need to go and take notes. The exams are online and taken in class using your own laptops so make of that what you will... I don't know why he's graded so harshly on this site, I love him and he's very straight-forward about what to expect and how to do assignments. Definitely recommend

I honestly don't know why these reviews are so negative, Professor Kornegay is one of the funniest professors I've had and he knows so much about everything to do with visual communications. The labs were very easy and straight forward because he tells you exactly how to do them. The tests were straight up, if you go to class they are very easy.

He was okay. Only allows laptops on lab days. He keeps lectures interesting and is funny, but his test questions are really misleading. Not very accessible outside class. Tutorials for the InDesign labs are really helpful though and he offered extra credit at end of semester. I'd take him again, but wouldn't be in a hurry to do so

I took Journalism 203 as an online course summer 2017. I managed to get an A in the class but Professor Kornegay made it extremely difficult on me. He didn't have office hours, and refused to meet with me about getting extra help on his indesigne assignmemts. He also rarely responded to my emails and when he did it was not in a timely fashion.

I thought this class was ridiculous for an intro class. Working on indesign is very hard and his grading is very strict. If you need help you're pretty much out of luck. Make friends in the class to help you out with the projects. the tests are the only somewhat easy thing about this class. Dont recommend

I love Kornegay. He's a good professor and an even better person. You can tell he loves the field and has a lot of great stories and experience to show for it. You won't learn too much in programs because it's an intro class. It's useful for learning the basics of HTML and InDesign. You will learn many important concepts in an understandable way.

Lectures are non linear and ramble on. Tests are super difficult and intentionally worded to mess you up. InDesign labs are excessive and difficult. Tells you that you won't need the textbook but the labs are impossible without it??? Attendance isn't mandatory but you have to go to class to get information because the slides he posts aren't helpful

An interesting guy. I wasn't interested in what he taught so it made it EXTREMELY hard to pay attention to the lectures.

I love the content of what the class was about, but he made everything so much more difficult than it had to be. Attendance is not mandatory but he goes over the labs in classes which would be impossible if you're not there. Tests are all multiple choice but the questions are purposefully confusing. Take a different professor!!!

VAN THE MAN!!!!!!! For real he rocks he's a great prof you will learn SO MUCH INFORMATION. But, because of that you can't skip a single class or you'll be behind. Your grade really depends on how creative you are too. But yeah went in knowing nothing about AI PS and now I feel confident in the field.

Overall, this class was easy, but this is coming from a high school paper editor-in-chief with 3yrs of InDesign experience. I had to help a lot of people with labs because the book sometimes wasn't clear enough. The video group project was AWFUL; one of our group members bailed on us without a word. He's a good teacher, but I'm glad I'm in Print.

This class isn't bad at all. He tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests. Getting InDesign is kind of a hassle, but the labs aren't bad at all and he gives you tons of pointers on how to do them. MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES IN THE LAB BOOK! He takes off 5 points for every mistake. The group video project sucks.

If you take this class, be ready to use a program called InDesign. I had never heard of this program before this class and struggled with it. You will have 6 projects which account for 40% of your grade. However, if you are good with that type of program you will be fine. Prof Kornegay is good. I disliked the class, but the teacher was very good.

This class would have been amazing if it would have been more hands-on. It needs to have about 20 students in it, not 100. This type of class needs to have individual and personal feedback for assignments, and that was not the case. Kornegay is a cool guy but the structure of the class could have been a lot better. Tests are extremely tough too.

Yes his grading is relatively hard, but if you enjoy desiging it should be a hard class for you. I learned a lot from him. And if you want someone who knows what they are talking about and helpful feedback take him. You just have to ask for feedback.

Very tough grader, his grading scale makes no sense and he keeps you in the dark on your standing in the class till the very last second. Not very helpful moves very quickly and assigns projects that are time consuming and boring. I do not recommend taking him at all. First C I have ever been given.

Stickler for attendance. No laptop/tablet use. Grades InDesign labs with no mercy. His tests look nothing like anything we learned in class. I use to be a VisCom major and I absolutely HATED this class. HATE.

Professor Kornegay teaches off of a powerpoint that he doesn't put up prior to the class so you can't make notes on those. He also doesn't allow computers. His tests are tricky and he answers maybe 25% of emails so if you need help good luck.. His TA takes attendance 10 minutes before class is over. Overall wasn't a fan of this class.
