This guy sucks! He really cant speak Spanish all that well either! He is a rude guy with a long greasy pony tail and he has a strict attendance policy! Yup! Over all I would rather die than take this class with this guy ever again! Good luck to you who have him!

Spanish is not my favorite class, this man is the reason why. He did not teach at all. All he did was read from the book and not explain anything. He would go on rants that are factually incorrect (get him talking about communism it is hilarious) and give horrible explanations. Do not take this guy. If he is not fired within a year, shame on CofC

Obviously the people who are saying that they like this man were probably incredibly great at spanish. That's the only way. YOU have to be good. This man is an awful teacher that just assumes that everyone knows everything about spanish. If you are not fluent then DO NOT TAKE HIM.

This man hates the world. He takes all his anger out on his students' tests. The grading is ridiculously hard and it's impossible to get a good grade on a test. I was a spanish minor before I took him. He makes you hate spanish. Also arrives late for every class and holds you over. Gives difficult random quizzes when he is having an extra bad day.

Awful teacher! not helpful. doesn't teach grammar. Didn't learn a thing all semester. I didn't like spanish much to begin with, now I hate it. His tests are ridiculously hard and inconsistent. Very different from test to test. DO NOT TAKE BYRD!

If you get stuck with Byrd, you will survive! I was terrified after reading some of these comments but the class itself isn't really that hard. I got an A-. We had vocabulary quizzes for every chapter (easy way to boost your grade) and the tests were not terrible. TONS OF QUIA HOMEWORK and he grades the final presentation VERY TOUGH! good luck!

I don't know what I was thinking. I took him for 101, 102, & 201. I still don't know a thing about speaking spanish. I have nothing to compare him by, but from what others in the class said, he is a horrible spanish professor. Avoid like the plague if you can!

A very bad professor. Extremely rude and disorganized. Makes you work in groups all of the time and does no attempt at teaching. Did not learn a thing. Test are impossible. Also, do not take a cell phone period!!!

THIS IS POTENTIALLY THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. I DO NOT THINK THAT HE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO STAY AT THE COLLEGE. EVERYONE IN THE CLASS JUST SITS THERE WHILE HE ATTEMPTS TO TEACH...WHICH IS BASICALLY JUST READING THE BOOK. IF YOU WANT TO HATE LIFE, TAKE HIM. OTHERWISE, RUN FAR FAR AWAY!

He is terrible!!! Avoid him if possible. He uses only the book- NO creativity in teaching whatsoever. There is one oral presentation at the end of the class which was pretty easy, counts as part of the exam. There's a lot of online hw. He asks specific/ detail ?s from the cultural section on the test. the rest of test is pretty straightforward.

I believe Professor Byrd has serious personal issues he is dealing with which he takes out on his students. To be honest, if I were him I would probably act in a similar way, however I would try to be courteous enough to resign from my job before I ruined various students GPAs. Also, if mullet pony tails give you nausea beware of this class.
