There is a lot to learn in here - weekly homework that is challenging. BUT. YOU. LEARN. Great lectures, simple, lots of variety in materials assigned, kinda funny and quirky. Do things the order he tells you. Answer every part of every question. Don't skimp on the writing. No need to be fancy, just be thorough and specific. He is a nice person.

Very unclear with what is expected. We purchased 2 books for class, and only used the second book for a reading assignment in the last week of the course, that had nothing to do with the assignment. Very short in responding to questions.

Dr. Mouw is a really nice guy and very approachable. He's not very clear with what he expects sometimes when he asks a question or gives an assignment. Just keep bugging him until you understand what is expected of you.

Great guy to chat with in and outside of class. Gives out helpful study guides, for exams. Gives out 3 in-class exams, all essays. Very willing to help answer any questions and go over the review with you before an exam.

Dr. Mouw is a fantastic teacher. I expected the class to be boring and chock-full of fruity advocacy, but it was neither. In fact, it turned out to be the most interesting class of the semester. Three tests, and they're all essays. Make sure you know the material. A bit of a tough grader, but fair. You have to give him what he is looking for.

He's a great teacher, and he's great to have as counselor. He's so helpful. He has a tendency to get off topic, but it would be great to sit back and watch him go. But after he realizes he went off topic, he'll go over the material you need for the tests or the papers. Participate in class--he likes that. I really liked him.

I've had Mouw for several classes. He's incredibly knowledgable and his lectures are usually interesting. He enjoys engaging students in discussion and his homework assignments aren't incredibly difficult. His grading is fair, if not a little lenient. He often uses online materials, so you don't have to spend a load on books.

Calvin is a good guy- good sense of humor, willing to spend time with students outside of class, good teaching style. Sometimes he does ramble a bit, but the rambles do usually have a point! :-) I would definitely take a class with him again. Just be sure to be an active student- talk to him. He appreciates that!

Great lecturer. Comes prepared with current examples of everything he talks about. Gave specific study guides. If you pay attention, (not really even take notes) it shouldn't be much of an issue. Don't bother with his recommended page lengths for papers. Answer the prompt and you'll get your A.
