Comment:
Carol is one of my graduate advisors. She's tough, but very fair. There is an openness in her teaching style that allows you to evolve as an artist and as a student that I love and that I excel at. I'm happy to work under her and am thankful for the ways she's nurtured my learning.

Comment:
Carol spends 10 minutes teaching then leaves the class. Can be rude/condescending to students, in front of entire class. Gives too much work, you fall behind in other subjects. Students have changed majors or schools to avoid her. She is very knowledgeable and a talented artist but doesn't seem interested in being a teacher.

Comment:
She is a pleasant person. In the Painting I class I took she gave almost no instruction. Her teaching style was very hands off because she was afraid to offend students, so she had them "critique" each other. She was actually teaching (whether conscious of it or not) how to Not Finish a Painting. She convinced me to pursue a BFA elsewhere.

I completely enjoyed my journal/bookmaking class with Carol. She was very helpful and encouraging to me. I signed up for another class with her immediately.

Comment:
Both times I took classes with her, I left with less skill in each medium than I went in with. She concentrates solely on quantity rather than quality, never bothering to determine whether or not her students can actually FINISH a piece. I highly reccomend against taking these classes unless you have no artistic talent whatsoever.

Expects way too much, and is to cxriticle of the students. She acts like we should know things already. Nice lady, talented artist, but a bad teacher. You can't expect an artist to excel if all they ever get is negative feed back.

She has you do most everything on large canvas. Tends to get expensive.

She is a nationally published oil/watercolor artist. Demands much from students but is very flexible in order to get the best for her students.
