Semi-use for the textbooks, gets mad if you don't pay attention or show up (obviously) but if you show up and take good notes you'll literally get and A all in class assignments are open note so literally write down everything she says.

Professor Cox is a genuinely caring professor if you're a respectful student. I had taken two of her classes and I received A's both times. There isn't any class discussions and you should write exactly what she does with notes. She's very intelligent and willing to help with any questions you have.

I took her three times (had to, didn't want to) and each time it was the same thing - copy down every word of her lecture, memorize it superficially, and dictate it back to her on the in-class writings. This was not a class where I expanded my thinking. Don't get me wrong, I WANTED to like it (I was an English major), but her class was stifling.

She's extremely intelligent and well-versed in the texts she teaches. Classes are a lecture format, so there isn't much back and forth between teacher and student in the classroom. However, she always reserves 20 minutes or so at the end to answering any questions you might have about the text. An excellent teacher. Take her; you won't regret it!

I had her for bible as literature and if youre taking her for this class i would definately recommend. she is an excelent teacher and tells you exactly what you need to know. She is also available to answer any questions you have regarding papers or tests which is nice if you want to improve in certain areas. I am expectin a high A in the class

Her lectures seem very pre-fabricated, almost memorized. She never asks for student input, and if you say anything unexpected on the in-class essays, she flags your paper with useless question marks. When reading passages aloud, she speaks very fast and strangely, to the point that it is difficult to follow along with the excerpts.

Ignore the bottom two comments. I loved Dr. Cox's Chaucer class. Most English courses at UPJ are ridiculously easy; I thought Dr. Cox graded fairly, not harshly. The course was a little more challenging than most, but if that bothers you, get out of college. You're here to be challenged. Work hard, and excellence is obtainable (I got an A).

Dr. Cox wasnt a very good teacher in my eyes. I thought she was a hard grader on papers/in class exercises esp. for those who are only taking this class for an elective and who are not ENGLIT majors. However, class never lasted the whole period and she was available to answer questions. Probably wouldnt recommend though!

A decent professor and an interesting class to take. I want to love it, but I just can't. Will take the entire class period to ramble about what she and other scholars think of the text, but never asks us of what we think. Be prepared to sit with your brain numb. No room for growth. Critical responses are easy A's. EXPENSIVE book only used in class

Very smart woman. Would recommend her to anyone! I have gone to her for help on several occasions and she helped me with everything! Very passionate about her work and helping me pass. We need more professors like her! Trust me. Take her classes.

Absolutely take Prof. Cox, she's SO smart and you will learn so much from her. She doesn't require attendance and makes optional conference days a lot, and never keeps you the whole time. I really enjoyed her class.

I liked her a lot. She understands her material very well and is always available for help. She cancels class a lot and is willing to give extensions on papers and let you make up tests. An easy grader if you write decent papers. I would recommend her, definitely.

Took her for History of English Literatue. She is a freaking genius, thus, you can't understand her at all. Talks fast and with $4 SAT words, gives VERY vague paper directions. However, she's super nice and will help with anything. Don't really need to read the text at all, which is a shame because it causes so much.

mid english lit was so easy.. cancels class often, but when she does have class you better expect it to be the entire time. gives almost everyone b's on their in class writing assignments and posts old tests on courseweb.. awesome teacher!

Great teacher. I was scared of her class at first, they are usually small. But she is a wonderful teacher. A lot of papers, but you can completely bs your way through them. I am not a good writer at all and I have recieved mostly A's. Not a stickler for class time either, if she's finished teaching you can leave. Easy and FUN!

She is perhaps the most intelligent professor, nay, person, that I have ever met in my entire life! She turned my whole attitude around toward EngLit.
