Dr. Gunel really knows his stuff and is always willing to help. Despite what others say, I found him to be easy to understand. Getting a B is very manageable.

Your whole grade is decided on exam, 30% each for the two term exams, 40% for the final. He always has to curve and still will fail almost half of the class. His lectures are long/unheplful. EXAMS ARE HARD. He is unreasonable about how he grades problems, the class average was a 52%... he makes everything hard then it has to be. Don't take him.

Exams are difficult, but if you do the work and take good notes, an A is attainable. Don't expect an A without thorough preparation for exams. Contrary to comments made by some of the other students on here (the prior STAT 561 post was in the same class/semester as me), Dr. Gunel is easy to understand and is helpful if approached outside of class.

Mountains out of mole hills. Makes a retarded class difficult. Trying to understand what the qeustion is asking, (during exams) is half of the work. He is a friendly man outside of class.

Poor english. Terrible Logic in teaching. Made easy statics into hard memorizing of complex formulas. Test is hard with wierd problems.
