I cant say enough good things about this Woman. Top notch and they just don't come around like her anymore. Very knowledgeable, I was always engaged in the lectures. Kind, smart , humble, approachable. Everything you would NOT think a chemistry prof to be. I started with a different PRof, I was dying in the class. then someone recommended her.

If you are a non-science major & need a science course, this is the way to go! Quizzes are given each week, but you are given the questions (most of them) ahead of time. Labs are easy and fun, & allow you to learn a lot. About 3 field trips for lab. Exams are all short-answer/fill-in the blank, but manageable. Cathy is a great professor!

Nice old lady who loves to chat. Intro Environmental Science was extremely easy, TA's (who are the same almost every year) and Cathy made it VERY difficult to fail. Learned a lot about many fields of ES and labs were easy. Lots of memorization, little reading, common sense mostly.

Her lectures can get pretty dull, but she has a lot of demonstrations that make things fun. There is a quiz and 2-3 hour lab every week. The labs are pretty easy but they're basically busy work. The exams were more difficult than expected cuz the questions can come from any of her lectures, quizzes, or labs.

Cathy is very passionate about the environment and gives amazing lectures with intriguing demonstrations in lecture. In addition, TA's Tim, Tom, and Rob have been part of the class for the past two years and lead amazing labs.

Cathy is the sweetest! Like a cute little grandma. Even with big lectures, she will try to get to know everyone by name. If you're a McBurney student, she is very accommodating and understanding. For the class, EnvSt 126 is a class for people who suck at science. You have a small quiz every week, and only 2 exams, and super easy take home finals.

I thought Cathy was a great professor. ILS 126 was a good class, interesting, but sometimes felt overly simple.

I love Cathy! She is such a nice person, and she really tries to get to know everyone. The lectures are long and it's kind of confusing to know what is important enough to write down. The TAs are awesome and make the labs really fun and interesting. Main focus points of class show up on tests - pretty easy overall.

This class is really easy, especially if you have any environmental science background. Can be boring because of how elementary it is, but once in a while a lecture is really good and the lab activities are usually pretty fun. I'd recommend taking this with a friend or be open to meeting someone new as I wouldn't have gotten though this by myself.

If you feel like your hair is too voluminous, then this is the class for you! There are few times that I have been more frustrated by a class then in this one. As a human being, Cathy is fine - maybe a little self absorbed. But there were many instances where she talks to you like you're 6 - hence the hair pulling. Science majors avoid this.

While this class is probably the easiest class I have ever taken, it is also the most boring and frustrating. The professor runs the lectures as if we are a group of middle schoolers with little previous academic knowledge in science. The quizzes are very easy as the questions are given to you ahead of time, however the grading is very strict.

Cathy is one of the best professors I've ever had. She's passionate about what she teaches and her lectures are interesting. She goes through the slides pretty fast so it's hard to take notes but they're all posted online. The one thing that sucks is you have to take a quiz every week, but they're always easy. Great class and the labs are fun!

This is a great course to learn about the basics of environmental science. Other than the labs (which are just basically long discussions with activities) there is little to no homework outside of class. Cathy has great stories and is a wonderful professor. Sometimes, the topics seem a little drawn out, but I would recommend it.

This class is painful if you have already taken upper level courses in Env SciSt. Felt like I was being talked to like a child. Lectures are long and boring, and you basically just listen to a bunch of life stories. Lab is equally long and boring and is just mindless busy work. Only good part is the guest speakers and field trips.

Cathy is the best professor I have ever had. The "superpowers" used are somewhat juvenile and do not help the course. All in all though, I loved this class. Cathy is an incredible person and professor! Take this class and get to know Cathy. She is awesome.

One of my favorite professors yet. She makes most of her lectures interesting and she is very friendly. My only gripe with this class is that a lot of the material on the tests were too specific to the things we did in class and not just on the course material, if that makes sense. Go to the classes and pay attention.

I do not recommend Cathy. I'm an honors student and took this class for requirements, but her lectures are off topic and juvenile, often using "super powers" to discuss topics. She also goes on irrelevant tangents. She is socially awkward, difficult to talk to, and her exams are surprising difficult. DON'T take this if you're at all sane.

The class was great. I took the class the first semester it was offered. Cathy was extremely approachable and helpful. I was a little stumped about the incorporation of superpowers, but by the end they made more sense than I could have ever imagined. Her TA staff was great too. I hope our suggestions helped the course.
