I took Russian history under Dr. Haus and got a B. He was the most left wing professor that I had during my college years. Conservative students were routinely insulted and nearly every class session had anti-republican insults. Additionally, the class was frequently subjected to long winded digressions unrelated to the class subject matter.

Professor Hauss, is a man of many faces, he is an intelligent, well spoken Professor, who has a wealth of knowledge especially when it comes to Washingtonian politics, it is best to know of the realist, liberal, and constructivist perspective. Be respectful, on time, read as much as possible, and pay attention to global comparative trends.Thanks:)

Professor Hauss is not qualified to teach a high school course, I find it hard to believe that someone who values his own haughty pompous opinion over empirical data and research was ever able to succeed in any sort of post-graduate work. The fact that he teaches at GMU, decreases both the school's credibility and prestige.

A lot of people are commenting on his bias in which I think is pure BS - Never in any of my classes has he put down a student for their views. He does talk about personal experiences at times but he does return to the foundations of the class and if you read the book and listen to him you should at least get a "C" in this class.

Chip Hauss is a very nice person, but as a teacher, he ain't cuttin' it. Lots of talking about himself and his history in politics, very little actual comparisons of political bodies. If you love government, you just may enjoy this class. Very liberal, conservatives forewarned. Papers not too hard but without clear assignment, how can they not be?

How did this guy get this job? By far, this class was an enormous waste of time and money. Political views are imposed, long exhausting stories told that makes watching grass grow seems more exciting. With no tests or study guide, students are lost. Essays (returned end of semeter) are graded by their English quality only and by other students.

I loved his class. Numeric ratings are tricky because it seemed both challenging and easy at the same time. This is probably partly because the subject matter was interesting to me. Hauss wasn't boring at all and he assigned interesting material. Highly recommeded.

Mr. Hauss was a really nice guy. He is really easy going, required no tests, only papers. He tells a lot of stories, which could be boring to some but every once in a while you'll find a valuable lesson in his life references. I recommend him.

I probably would have received an A by writing his Biography: who he is, how much money he makes and gives to others, who he knows, how many people can fit into his home, the relationship he has with his wife and daughter, and I could go on a little longer but..... I think he should not be teaching a class because his interests are eslewhere. BAD

Biggest waste of time and money in my experience at Mason. This guy is a story-teller, not a teacher. No tests, papers only that have to be slanted to his opinion. Your well written paper gets knocked-down to a C for the slightest critique or deviation from his private political point-of-view. If you value your well earned GPA, he'll trash it.

Crazy man that somehow is always connected to everyone mentioned in class. Completely unhelpful with essay writing and you have to change years of learned writing style to fit his "acceptable" style, which is completely ridiculous and WRONG! I have never gotten anything lower than an A on my papers, and hes given me straight Cs! STAY AWAY!

He is a good teacher if you are interested in politics. He might sound boring at first, but he knows what he is talking about. If you don't feel like coming to class, it's no problem, because the textbook is written by him and if you read the text you do not need to come to class. Follow his text when writing essays and you would be fine.
