Tough but do-able. READ THE TEXTBOOK AND DO THE SUGGESTED PROBLEMS!! Tests are almost straight from homework. He will curve tests if he thinks it's necessary, and possibly bump your grade up. Mine was bumped, probably b/c of the attendance sheet he passed around everyday.

Honestly, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. He does not teach, and I can tell you right now the people that give him glowing reviews are the ones that are chemistry geniuses. If you happen to be taking classes other than his, you're in for a bad time. Chemistry isn't usually hard for me, and I failed this class.

He's a pretty chill teacher. If you have questions, he is more than willing to help if you just ask. He curves tests and grades them pretty generously. Plus, if you went to class all semester, your grade will probably get a nice bump.

He's not the greatest teacher, but he is super nice and really willing to help. At the end of the semester he is willing to bump your grade up as long as you came to class. He's even nicer about bumping grades if you actually go ask for help during the semester.

Go to class to make sure that you get that extra borderline grade bump at the end. Horrible teacher because he just does slides from the book on his ipad and complains about when he has to use the chalkboard. Willing to curve if the tests get better. Very monotone and is probably better at research than teaching. Goes through the slides too fast.

Here's the deal- Read the book! All he does is post the pictures from the figures in the book and an example problem on his power point slides. Read the info that concerns the material in the power point. He's actually cool and laid back. Make sure you to go to class!

DO NOT TAKE! Very unclear and tests are IMPOSSIBLE. The only good thing about him is that he drops a test grade and curves the class, but it still didn't help!!

I did not have much of a choice taking Shannon for Chemistry. As a first semester freshmen it was the only Chem class I could get in to. Class was not helpful at all! You can drop one test and he did curve our grades He was not cut out to be a teacher and can not explain anything. He was very hard. I worked hard for an a

Switch teachers! The best advice in this class is learn how to self-teach out fo the book. It is your life-line to making an A or B.Shannon has no problem failing you, many of the people in my class did.Don't waste your time trying to get help unless you have a set of organized questions to ask him.Do all of the online homework, and hope for the best!

He doesn't teach anything in class. I attended every lecture, several reviews sessions, and still had a hard time. He also gives quizzes every Friday, each of which are ridiculously hard. I have never been in a class that so many people failed. Do not take him

He is a horrible teacher. I went to him every monday and wednesday from 12 to 1 for additional help and I still came out the class with a C. I took chemistry in high school and was the only one out of my senior class to exempt my chem exam because I had an A out the class. Also Test are extremely long

Terrible professor! Choose another professor if possible. He is the least helpful and most lazy man alive. If you end up in his class, you will have to teach yourself ALL of the material from the book because his lectures are a joke.

Dr. S is a good teacher for those who have already had Chem at least one semester or AP classes. I failed every test and had to retake his class. Go to review sessions, and office hours are helpful too. iClickers are used in his class and also Mastering Chemistry pages are given online. Test are too long for the time allowed, I never finished test.

Absolutely terrible teaching. You have to teach yourself everything. He gives pointless on-line homework that takes hours and hours to complete. It's almost impossible to understand what he's talking about in the lectures. Whatever you do, do not take his class!
