Professor Hobson is an amazing and hardworking professor. The texts he teaches and they way he teaches them will open your eyes. I took him for 3 semesters and every semester I would grow as a writer and student. His feedback and suggestions on papers were the reason why I went on to grad school. If you don't take him, then you're missing out.

I had Professor Hobson for Senior Seminar One & Two and I couldn't have asked for a better seminar professor. He is NOT a harsh grader, if you do your work on time and well then you'll pass with an A easily. He teaches you a lot about MLA format and pushes you to pay attention to keen details on your paper. The work load is easy for a seminar class

I, like a commenter above, had Hobson as an instructor back in '89. I actually, took him twice. We read Richard Wright's Native Son and and Mark Twain's Huck Finn, to name a few. The reading was intense and the papers, anxiety-inducing. But he always gave honest, thoughtful feedback that invited a deeper understanding of the material.

Very difficult class, but he will teach you more than you have learned in years. Don't listen to the others about his not being a down to earth guy, he's a fantastic dude that will tell you cool stories about his past. Not a boring Prof either, just very into his teaching so will go on little tangents. Overall fantastic, would take again.

I was fortunate to have Hobson for 3 semesters. Best decision I ever made. He pushes you in ways you never thought you could reach. You will learn a lot. Do not be LATE, READ, DO WELL ON THE PAPERS AND QUIZZES and trust me you'll do great in his class. I use to be barely read in my other classes but Hobson changed all that and I'm thankful I had hm

I first had Hobson in 1989 at Hunter College (CUNY) and it seems he is very much the same. However I would have to disagree with posters. Throughout the two courses I took with him, he was never demeaning or cruel to his students. Quite the opposite. He worked hard to get me to do my best and although it wasn't easy, he was very fair.

The man is NOT an easy grade! However, he will teach you SO MUCH! No English professor at Old Westbury is more helpful and intellectual when compared with Hobson. Put in the effort, the results will show. Extremely quick by e-mail as well. To have him is truly a privilege.

Bottom line: This is the man that separates the men from the mice. It won't be him that you hate; it will be yourself. If you are fortunate enough to have Hobson and survive then you can call yourself an intellectual. Jump down the rabbit hole.

Chris is an amazing professor! However, he is the type that is extremely demanding of his students. The most helpful man I have ever encountered as a student. If you work hard you will get the grades you deserve. If your lazy, he isn't the professor for you.

Hobson is an excellent professor. He is definitely not an easy grader, but he is reasonable. To do well in his class you must read and understand what you have read. He is always willing to help, and he is one of my favorite professors in the Emglish department

DONT BE ABSENT!!!!! he's pretty hard and he doesn't offer much extra help so try to grasp the concept right away or you might be in trouble, he expects you to memorize A LOT of info for both final and midterm and he even lists lines from several (about 30-45 poems) you cover in the class and then expects you to name them and from which book
