I really enjoyed Owen in class. He keeps his lectures interesting, and as long as you put effort into his class you will pass. Attending class is important for the quizzes and midterm/final essays. Hes a good professor and I recommend him over anyone else. Take notes and pay attention to his lectures and youll be fine.

Owen is knowledgeable about history, but he has a very monotone voice, so it's hard to focus during lectures. But he has quizzes/discussions every Friday and all of them are based on 3 separate readings each. They are not difficult as long as you read the material. His midterm was exactly like the study guide. Not a hard teacher, but not an easy A

I never liked history until I took Owens class. He is super awesome and his lectures are interesting. There is a bit of homework, but he is an easy grader on discussion days. His quizzes are pulled straight from the notes, and his midterm was almost identical to the study guide (I would suggest making a quizlet for it.)

Dr. Owen is an awesome guy. Outside reading is a must. He wants to engage with his students. He is always open to answer questions you have either through email or face to face. He is an awesome professor who is recommended to anyone!

You'll use the book a LOT. The study guide for the midterm was absolutely nothing like the midterm, and the ones that were got entirely reworded so that the answer wouldn't be the one you got on the study guide. The wording is very tricky. There's a test every week, and reading is IMPORTANT. If you don't read the book for the quiz you won't pass.

You do have to show up, and make sure you take good notes. His lectures are really boring, and borderline sleep inducing. As long as you read, and show up, you should do well.

You do read a lot of material in his class. He does tend to put people to sleep with his lectures but if you are attentive he does put a twist in the way he tells history. Tests can be very hard if you don't study but if you do you may have a chance.

I am a Social Studies Ed. Major and have taken several of Dr. Owen's classes. If you care about history you will do great in his class. He has you do readings at home, then during class he goes through and asks specific questions about the reading during class discussions. If you don't do the readings, don't expect to pass.

His classes are pretty much all lectures. There are two textbooks required. One you will take several short reading quizzes that he gives you the material to study. There are four discussions from the second textbook and he gives you the questions. There is a midterm and a final that he gives you past tests to study from.

Dr. Owen relies heavily on class participation in the way of discussions. Even if you don't read the required text, you can usually get full points by grasping basic concepts discussed in them. We had a research paper, but on the rough draft he tells you exactly what to fix in order to get an A. If he likes your class, he'll make it fun and casual.

His lectures are long and boring and he will stop a lecture to fuss at students if he thinks they are on their phone, not paying attention, or talking. He also assigns an insane amount of reading. We have a quiz or two a week and each one is over a 40-50 page chapter.

The class is completely lecture, but he makes it super interesting. You have a lot of reading assignments & quizzes. Whenever there's a quiz he'll sometimes let you know the class before, but most of the time he doesn't. There's only 2 tests, which are the midterm & final. Take notes on lecture for test and he gives a study guide before each one.

*I TOOK THE HONORS VERSION* Dr. Owen's class is pure lecture. You take 12 10-point quizzes from the readings, and you take 3 100-point tests: the midterm, final, and book review. The three tests are difficult, as you have to memorize them and then write them in class. But I ended up receiving a 98.57% in the class, so work hard and it's possible!

Show up to class, take notes on his lectures, read the assignments, take the quizzes, study for the tests (only two: midterm and final) and you shouldn't have a problem passing. Dr. Owen has made history a little more interesting for me and I would recommend him to others.

MUST attend all classes, he doesnt require it, but it is best for your grade. Write EVERYTHING he says. You only have 3 grades made up of a midterm, final and 12 reading quizzes throughout the semester. Gives study guides and tests are M/C and T/F. I missed a few classes and 2 quizzes and came out with a B+. STUDY ALL MATERIAL THOROUGHLY FOR TESTS.

I took the Honors version, and it was highly difficult at times. The class was very demanding, but its college. You have no homework, just had to read A LOT. You have to study so much. He is highly particular, and very strict. However, he is crazy smart, and knows what he's talking about! Very interesting to listen to.

Overall professor Owens has a lot of knowledge and is able to provide information outside of the text book. The class consisted of 11 discussions over readings and 2 exams both essay format.
