2 insane tests, 2 homeworks graded as a part of participation, and a group project. Go to class, talk to the LFs, ask him for help, and try to think like him. Reading the textbook is a waste of time. From the start, try to follow his logic and listen carefully, the tests are an absolute beast. Definitely an awesome class though, if you let him in!

Persuasion was entirely applicable to real life. Yes, it was difficult, but it was so worth it. Professor Warren is incredibly intelligent. Rarely at GW did I think, "Wow, I'm glad I came here because I wouldn't have had this high-quality professor at another university." That is EXACTLY how I feel about Dr. Warren! He's superior in all ways.

Dr. Warren is extremely intelligent; but also very engaging and caring. I looked forward to coming to class and feel that the persuasion material is totally applicable to life (both professional and personal). It's safe to say Dr. Warren has been my favorite professor and Persuasion my favorite course at George Washington University!

Professor Warren is an incredible professor who challenges each and every one of his students. Without a doubt, Persuasion is the most interesting and thought-provoking class I have ever taken.

This is by far the BEST course I've taken at GWU. Dr. Warren's intelligence, expertise, and genuine concern for his students made this semester in Persuasion an invaluable experience. It will remain with me for a long time; perhaps for a life time.

Dr. Warren is clearly a brilliant man but is a completely unrealistic grader. I have never worked so hard in a class, yet received the worst grades of my college career. He has made me cry far too many times than I would care to admit. He can be condescending at times and expects the impossible from students.

Professor Warren is very passionate and knowledgeable in his field - his lectures are sometimes hard to follow but he'll clarify if you ask. The TAs were students our age and I felt weird being judged and graded by a peer - and the exams were 2+ hours long. The class was a lot of work, but I feel like I learned alot of useful stuff about persuasion

One of my favorite classes that I have ever taken. I enjoyed how challenging it was and how it made me think about the importance of persuasion in real life. The professor was incredibly knowledgeable and it was great having the opportunity to learn from him.

Bothered by our political election I found myself returning to persuasion theory learned in Dr. Warrens class. Then, several weeks before the election I had a dream. I was Dorothy journeying to Oz. Accompanying me werent Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, or Tin Woodman, but Ethos, Pathos, and Logos! Persuasion obviously is my most memorable GW class.

I graduated from GW five years ago. Just started a new job this fall, and, as I set up my new desk, I realized one of the only items from GW that I continue to put in my "left hand drawer" is Dr. Clay Warren's "Persuasion: A Primer." It's an understatement to say Prof. Warren's course in Persuasion has been my most important college course!

Comment:
Professor Warren is the worst, most unhelpful professor I have had at this university. The class has great potential, but his unbelievable standards and blatant display of disrespect and criticism of his students creates a discouraging and unpleasant environment for learning. I would avoid taking this class with him, if you don't have to.

This course was EXCELLENT, the best graduate-level class I took in the OS program. It was an intensive 3-week course and I got more out of it than my regularly scheduled classes. Dr. Warren was engaging, deeply knowledgeable, and employed a variety of learning techniques -- after consideration, I'll say he's the BEST professor I had in college.

Taking Philosophy of Communication Education (as a Persuasion TA) was unlike any course I have had at school - in an extremely positive way! It was a unique and very cool experience to work alongside an AWESOME professor. I really appreciated how integrated into the course we were. My favorite and most valuable college educational undertaking.

I have to say that rarely do I experience such open, honest, and deep discussion in class. This level of discussion, in conjunction with the higher expectations for student productivity and assumption of intellectual ability and thinking capacity of students, made this class pretty life changing! Prof. Warren is smart, balanced, fair, and fun.

I think Dr. Warren is a brilliant man and a wonderful teacher. I've had two courses with him -- Persuasion and Philosophy of Communication Education (which involved being a TA for Persuasion) -- and I can enthusiastically say they were life-changing. He expects a lot from students, but gives even more. His courses stand a head above the rest!

Professor Warren is an awful professor and person. Im an athlete and he asked one time which day would we prefer to have the review session and he said my "excuse" didn't matter. He made me feel uncomfortable. Harsh grader, and expects to memorize an entire BAP outline, I cried 4 times and wish I didn't meet him.

VERY few graded assignments - like three - for the whole semester. Expectations and assignments are generally unclear and typically leave you with a bad grade. The kind of professor that seems to judge you if you ask for help or clarification, but LF's are a good resource.

Incredibly unrealistic expectations. Tests were in reality 15+ page papers written in under three hours, but he graded them as if you had weeks to work on them (read: harshly). Didn't grade based on how well you argue but on how you line up with what he thinks. Incredibly unclear grading procedure and expectations. Avoid if at all possible.

The worst professor I've ever had during my 4 years at GW. He doesn't teach and just references page numbers in the book. His tests are ridiculously difficult and he makes you write papers that are 20 pages long as homework assignments. The TAs do all the work, even though there are only 30 students. He's extremely arrogant and unapproachable. AVOID

He is the best professor I've had during my four years at GW. The persuasion class was also the most challenging class I've taken. That makes him difficult for students who want an easy class. For those willing to study, he's at the top.
